The Kitchen God's Wife by Amy Tan. It's one of those books I've read several times simply because I enjoy it. The interplay between a mother who was raised in China with their cultural values and her American born daughter is fascinating.

Killashandra by Anne McCaffrey, because it's been ages since I read it, and a copy turned up in the reading material at the local car garage.

Mathematics: From the Birth of Numbers
It's probably going to stick about as well as it did the first time through, but it's still a good read.In the grave they chose to make their beds
Now all that they've created comes crashing down,
Down upon their heads
Death is waiting

Orthodoxy By GK Chesterson, Because I'm back in school and I like to use his quotes in class to appear more intelligent than I am.

Being conservative means never having to say; "Dont you dare question my patriotism"
These are days when the Christian is expected to praise every creed but his own. --G.K. Chesterton
If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning. C S Lewis

Humility, by Andrew Murray. It was on the reading list for a course! Well, actually, it's one of my favorite books, and one of his best.

All of the James Herriot books. Because they are terrific books and can be read over and over without becoming boring.

1. The Holy Bible (every year)
2. Streams in the Desert
3. My Utmost for His Highest
4. Daily Light on the Daily Path
Why? Because they help to start my day with the Lord in my thoughts.

Why not try Jerome K. Jerome's "Three Men in a Boat"? All of life is there, most of all it is one of the funniest books ever written and absolutely stops us taking ourselves too seriously.

Gadamer's Truth and Method. One of the really important books on how we know things.
It's going slowly because I'm also reading the same undergraduate paper on the legalization of marijuana for the six thousandth time.... That'd be a professional obligation.
