Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
    A Mom’ism…

My mom raised one husband and four kids, my mom was a spiritual giant (I hope you can say the same about your mom)! Her LORD took her home in June of 2007 and not a day goes by I don’t at some point think about her and appreciate the sacrifices she made for her family. I never thought about this but this morning it occurred to me that it was mom who make the greater sacrifice for the family.

This morning during my meditation time I read, “If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest. This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28–30, CEV) And I immediately remembered what I call a Mom’ism, something my mom would say at least once a day, “LORD, give me strength,” she muttered under her breath loud enough so we could hear her. Somehow shrouded in a mystery her LORD gave her what she asked for, strength.

For some reason Jesus’ invitation and my mom’s Mom’ism smacked me across the back of the head and suddenly I found myself thinking of times when I instinctively asked the LORD to give strength. I marveled at how she unknowingly was preparing me for my life not only as a parent but also as a disciple and believer in Jesus. Through her ongoing and frequent request for divine strength she was also providing me with a living testimony of faith in action. Isn’t it amazing how our lives are influenced in ways we’re not even aware of?

I am not sure about all the details of her life that helped prepare her to become the spiritual giant she was I know her belief and faith in Jesus was THE contributing factor and I guess really the details are not that important. What is important to me is the fact that her faith has “spilled over” into my life and for that I am eternally grateful. I’ll bet as Jesus walked with her on their way to heaven they talked about those times when I put her faith to the test. Jesus, thanks for blessing me with a prophetic mom. And mom, thanks for living what you believed.

As Christians we need to remember our lives WILL and DO HAVE an impact on others even when neither we nor they are aware of it.

    Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!
    Celebrate!

    Grace and PEACE, Amen!
    Gary
