Egyptian Antiquities Minister Mamduh al-Damati (or Mamdouh el-Damaty) has announced his support of a theory put forward last month[1]

FYI, back in the 1960s, a team of scientists used cosmic ray muons to "X-ray" one of the pyramids at Giza. They were able to show that it did not have any hidden chambers: http://www2.lns.mit.edu/fisherp/AlvarezPyramids.pdf

This isn't the pyramids but is some 500 km (311 miles) away near Luxor.

Yes. My thought was that maybe they could use the same technique on King Tut's tomb. But it looks like the geometry is wrong; the proposed hidden chambers would be off to the side, and it's not possible to see significant cosmic ray flux coming through them.

Interesting article about other research that suggests that it is unlikely that any additional mummies that might be found in any potential secret chambers in Tut's tomb would be Nefertiti: http://news.discovery.com/history/ar...omb-151015.htm

And the Egyptian panel has given the go ahead to the use of x-rays to search for hidden chambers: http://www.theguardian.com/culture/2...or-hidden-room
