Presbyterians? Anyone?
Just curious how many presbyterians are on the board. And if so, how many have read or heard of the Peace, Unity, and Purity Report?

My most recent faith struggle is not one of intellect. I don't really do that anymore. Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and some other guys who can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly, I don't care. ~ Don Miller Blue Like Jazz

Ya poor, lonely Presby!
If there is anything I’ve learned from both conservatives and liberals, it’s that we can have all the “right” answers and still be mean. And when you’re mean, it’s hard for people to listen to, much less desire, your truth.

Re: Presbyterians? Anyone?
It is on the PCUSA website at:
http://www.pcusa.org/peaceunitypurity/finalreport.htm
but i'm not particularly interested, i'm PCA and theologically conservative and reformed, not liberal or neo-orthodox.God does not subtract from man's allotted time on earth, the hours we spend reading.

Re: Presbyterians? Anyone?
it is interesting to contrast the handful of conservative Presbyterian denominations in the US. I've found the PCA to be generally evangelical but without the knowledge base in theology that i saw in the OPC. I don't think i ever heard an OPC person say that they were uncertain if they were presbyterian or reformed. But i hear those ideas voiced pretty consistently in the PCA. The PCA doesn't appear to be as consistently committed to a strict presbyterian and reformed theology as the OPC is, i wonder why? both use the same confession with roughly the same subscription requirements for teaching elders.

Yeah, I've actually read it and lead round table's on it for our presbytery. I was just curious if anyone else had read it.

Just in case you were wondering. (Also, neo-orthodoxy is not neccesarily a non-reformed way of thinking.)"Yes, I'm quite concerned about health care issues surrounding leaked radiation from Japan. It is the report of the task force formed five yoears ago at GA to offer a definitive interpretation on the fidelity and chastity clause of the constitution of the church.

Oooo, oooo, I'm Presbyterian. My dad is an elder at our PCA church. Frankly, I can't imagine going to any non-Presbyterian churches any more. Plus in my town the choices are pretty much unitarian or the three Presby churchs. I do go to many different denominations, and they're fine, but I feel like I'm actually ascended to the heavenly places at our church.Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth:
Set up your kingdom in our midst.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God:
Have mercy upon me, a sinner
Holy Spirit, breath of the living God:
Renew me and all the world.

Re: Presbyterians? Anyone?
Hey Pilgrim- I think part of the reason so few of your PCUSA brethren are on this site is the nature of TWeb itself- for various reasons, it tends to attract predominantly nondenominational, independent baptist, evangelical, etc. types of Christians rather than a lot of members of the more established denominations. What say you?

than most I think so this type of dialogue rubs many of them the wrong way. Though there was a time in this country when you could not be in a debate or politically hot situation without a presbyterian. Witness the signers of the Declaration and the Freedom riders for instance.
