      My tribute to Bandecoot

I looked through the newspapers at work today when I arrived and could not help but think of Bandecoot. There I go seeing the obituaries and realizing that as much as I think he deserves a mention. Bandecoot would not be listed in my area newspaper.

The paper tells me of the death of one of the last World War 1 Veterans. Yeah. That's sad and sympathies for that family and cheers to one who fought for our freedom, but I can't help but think of another one. I think of one who in reply to some peaceniks in PALtalk spoke of how he served in Somalia. He spoke of what a nightmare it was and how it pained him to still think about it, but how he wouldn't allow what he and his fellows in the armed forces did over there to be disgraced and how he would willingly do it again. Yes. Another veteran was lost, but you won't read about him in the newspaper.

I read about how Anita O'Day passed away. In her day, she was known as the Jezebel of Jazz. My mind goes to one who RTP tells me she loved to hear his tenor. I think as to how that tenor won't be heard anymore on PALtalk and it saddens me. Yes. Anita wasn't the only singer who passed away.

I think about my personal memories with him. I think about how I came home one day so excited to have a book on Roman history and how Bandecoot told me that it was one he used often and gave me a link to Cicero's letters to read sometime.

I think about how he told me about scuba diving when I told him that I was afraid of going underwater. He told me that if I ever got to Australia, he'd take me scuba diving. I told him I'd take him up on that offer. As much as we disagreed, Bandecoot was still a friend in that gesture and if I ever make it to Australia, I'm going scuba diving in his honor.

Yes. We've all lost someone. You won't read about it in the newspapers most likely. The evening news won't cover it. You won't hear it on the radio. However, to all who knew him, the world will not be the same again. All of our worlds were changed by knowing him and all of our worlds are changed at his departing.

Good friend. How I wish I could have spent more time with you. The past cannot be reclaimed or undone though. I would think the best we can do is to take time to treasure our fellow TWebber more and our fellow man as well. Though we disagree on many issues, what would it be like if that person you're posting to was gone? What would it be like if you knew they would never again return to post?

Here's to Bandecoot. He will always be missed.

      I miss him!

I will keep praying that he had time to accept Christ before he died. I want to meet him in heaven.

None of us know when our time is up.

I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation. - 2 Cor 6:2

I will miss Bande so much. I looked forward to him visiting in pal talk each week.

      Matthew 8:26-27

He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!"
