As long as I'm debating someone as unworthy as you, there can be no hope of my being "moderated," • Edited by a Moderator •
Once again, here is your chance, Loving Christian, to reach out and "save" an "ill-informed soul." Where is Jesus' unconditional love in your responses? Where is your attempt for redemption of "lost souls?"
Someone, please awaken JP Holding so that I can debate with someone as intelligent and informed as I am. • Edited by a Moderator •

Being moderated means that someone (read: me) has to clean up the mess after your blasphemous diatribes.
Cool your jets and read the rules.Okay, I finally have a blog.

Re: December 2006 Screwballs of the Month
Maybe if you were an honest seeker, and not a pompous jerk, you'd be listened to. All you've shown so far is utter contempt. You have given no evidence of being interested in answers, just instulting people who don't want to answer an assertion that's been answered over and over again. Might I ask if you are the guy who sent JP the letter a few posts back? It certainly matches your writing style. And this is the Screwball of the Month thread. If you really want to discuss the Genesis stuff posted, start a new thread somwhere, instead of hijacking this one.

Re: December 2006 Screwballs of the Month
Pompous Jerk? I took that accusation up with my Mother, my Grandmother and a few of my Aunts, and after hours of shedded tears, they alleviated my concerns. In fact, they say I'm "a real catch." So, there!
I especially love the accusation that I'm not "open-minded." Laughter is the best medicine, so thank you for providing it.
In a nation that is predominantly Christian, and having been raised in a Christian home, I would argue that open-mindedness is inherent in my skepticism. Otherwise, I would simply adhere to my Mommy and Daddy's religion, wouldn't I? You know - like you do.
Because of the fact that I AM open-minded, I would place faith in the Bible and Christianity if it could be conclusively proven that they are infallibly true. However, since they cannot, and since not a single one of you can actually refute my "Genesis argument," I remain a skeptic. Oh, the agony of an eternity engulfed in flames!
Regarding my "Genesis statement," it's as simple as this: Genesis has the Earth created BEFORE the Sun - the Earth created on Day 1 and the Sun created on Day 4. Impossible. The Earth would not exist if not for the pre-existence of the Sun. Can any of you morons actually refute this without falling back on previous "Jesus-certified" appraisals of Genesis' infallibilty. Do any one of you hacks understand enough about Astronomy to realize that Genesis' creation account is not scientific, but wholly mythological.
Refute my claim. Provide an ACTUAL rebuttal, rather than just deeming me a "pompous jerk." At the very least, give me some typical rationalizing for the authenticity of Genesis. If you cannot do so, then shut your mouth and bow to my victory. Heaven does not await you. You are a mortal being, as are the rest of us. You will rot upon death. Debate me all you want, but reality is inevitable.

I never said that. I said you're not acting like an honest seeker. And you have been extremely pompous.

Or it can, but you'll refuse to believe it. And Hell isn't a place of fire.Because of the fact that I AM open-minded, I would place faith in the Bible and Christianity if it could be conclusively proven that they are infallibly true. And God can't violate the science he created in order to create Earth? That's a pretty bold statement. God can do whatever He wants with the universe, and that includes creating a planet without a star. Deal with it.Regarding my "Genesis statement," it's as simple as this: Genesis has the Earth created BEFORE the Sun - the Earth created on Day 1 and the Sun created on Day 4. Impossible. So let me get this straight...you want me to not call you pompous, but "bow down to your victory"? That's funny. And Genesis is outside my field too. Find someone who primarily focuses on Genesis, and ask them about it.Refute my claim. Provide an ACTUAL rebuttal, rather than just deeming me a "pompous jerk." At the very least, give me some typical rationalizing for the authenticity of Genesis. If you cannot do so, then shut your mouth and bow to my victory.
Another bold statement. Prove it. Have you died before? Do you know what happens?Heaven does not await you. You are a mortal being, as are the rest of us. You will rot upon death. Debate me all you want, but reality is inevitable.

Re: December 2006 Screwballs of the Month
Can't resist, Darth Xena, sorry.
Mr Derreckbennett, your starting premise is false. You presume that the Bible hinges on the first chapters of Genesis, while it does no such thing. Rather, it is all founded on the Resurrection of Christ. In that light, the first chapters of Genesis do nothing to undermine the validity of the Bible.

Indeed, I have no problem with Genesis being a myth. In fact it probably is given that Moses wasnt around when it occured

Re: December 2006 Screwballs of the Month
Poetry, maybe -- I didn't mean to say it was a myth. I don't have very clear opinions on the subject, but I believe the first chapters of Genesis are true. In what way they ought to be read is up for debate.

It's the end of the month anyways, so will mods please close this thread. I'll start a January 2007 one in a moment. If DorkBurnett wants to rant on something I actually address, like the Attis-Mithra crap he burped up in his email, he can pick a subject; I'll open a thread for him to do that to and be back Tuesday.

Way too easy to get all lathered up. Lathering up an emergent-type (though in all honesty there are some emergent guys that I get along with quite well on other subjects) and a fundy-atheist - what a day.
