Home Economics 101

Welcome to the Home Ec Section. Matters of the family sometimes bring joy and other times bring grief. But it is never trivial: Family matters! Feel free to discuss topics such as the sanctity of marriage; the awesome responsibility of raising children; the struggles of communication problems; the grief of losing a loved one; or anything else that relates to the home and family. However, due to the more personal nature of this section, I ask that you would be especially thoughtful of the readers' feelings. My earnest hope and prayer is that the discussions in this section will help families grow in the love of Christ.

But remember, always play by the rules: here

          What about pumpernickel?
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures --1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (borrowed with gratitude from 37818's sig)

Never heard of it, but Al Gore has made preparations for US citizens to buy stuff from all over the world via the internetzweb.

Great Harvest Sunflower Millet is my favorite. I have not bought regular white bread in more years than most of you have been alive. Good homemade white bread is good though.
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Did you use any special flour, unbleached or whatever?

I don't make bread often. When I do I use unbleached white flour.

I used to make sour dough bread, but once we moved into town I did not use my sour dough often enough to keep it going.

On a similar subject . . . When I make whole wheat bread (which I have not done for several years) it always gives me acid stomach. Great Harvest bread does not, nor does other bakery bread. Anyone know what the difference might be?

                            Mischbrot.

German sour-dough rye. Kinda like Jewish rye but with a tang to it. It is a mix of wheat and rye.
