Unorthodox Theology 201 Guidelines

Theists only.

This forum area is primarily for persons who would identify themselves as Christians whether or not their theology is recognized within the mainstream or as orthodox though other theists may participate with moderator permission. Therefore those that would be restricted from posting in Christianity 201 due to a disagreement with the enumerated doctrines, ie the Trinity, the Creatorship of God, the virgin birth, the bodily resurrection of Christ, the atonement, the future bodily return of Christ, the future bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, and the final judgment may freely post here on any theological subject matter. In this case "unorthodox" is used in the strict sense of a person who denies what has been declared as universal essentials of the historic Christian faith. Examples would be adherents to Oneness, Full Preterists, Unitarian Universalist Christians, Gnostics, Liberal Christianity, Christian Science to name a few.

The second purpose will be for threads on subjects, which although the thread starter has no issue with the above doctrines, the subject matter is so very outside the bounds of normative Christian doctrine totally within the leadership's discretion that it is placed here. In so doing, no judgment or offense is intended to be placed on the belief of said person in the above-doctrines. In this case "unorthodox" is used in a much looser sense of "outside the norms" - Examples of such threads would be pro-polygamy, pro-drug use, proponents of gay Christian churches, proponents of abortion.

The third purpose is for persons who wish to have input from any and all who would claim the title of Christian even on subjects that would be considered "orthodox."

The philosophy behind this area was to recognize that there are persons who would identify themselves as Christian and thus seem out of place in the Comparative Religions Forum, but yet in keeping with our committment here to certain basic core Christian doctrines. Also, it allows threads to be started by those who would want to still be identified as Christian with a particular belief that while not denying an essential is of such a nature that the discussion on that issue belongs in this section or for threads by persons who wish such a non-restricted discussion.

Because he was most likely Jewish, and thus would have known all about the Messiah.

IMHO, since Jesus is doing the healings in this ministry I would be cautious before speaking against it (Psalms 105:15).

Hmm. I wonder why he didn't go and resurrect all those people that died when his guest house collapsed last year...

You mean that there are no more scriptures to be written? In regard to Ephesians 4:11, Päivi Heikkilä writes,

The need of God given Apostles and Prophets is obvious in the Church of Jesus Christ today. In many nations this is already in action; they have Apostolic and Prophetic Round Tables, or Councils and Elders, formed of apostles and prophets given by God, coming together some times during a year to seek God for those things that causes confusion in the Church. But in many nations, specially in Europe, this is not happening yet. In Finland we have some leading brothers in some denominations, but not many prophets received yet. We also have bishops in the Lutheran Church, but most of them have proved themselves to be false apostles, not leading the Church according to the truth of the Gospel, but according to the will of the world. Mainly the Church is in fact without God given apostles and prophets who would take care of the condition of the Church.

This was not the case in the time of the early Church, as for ex Acts 15 tells us. Apostles and prophets came together to seek the Lord in some spesific matters and then gave advises to churches how to deal with those matters. They also went (both apostles and prophets from this Council) to meet the leaders in churches to strengthen them and to give the letter to them on those matters. This way the Church knew what to think and how to go on in some difficult things. The Church also was oneminded and could stay together in all kind of questions that rose up. Of course it was easier as the Church still was one and not devided in so many denominations as it is today. God has given His apostles and prophets to His Church, to the Church of Jesus Christ, not to this or that denomination.

The more we come to the place where Christianity will be devided to two; to the Body of Christ and to the World Church, the Harlot Church, the more we will see many of formal leaders showing themselves to be false apostles and false prophets, and the more we will start see the God given true apostles and prophets to rise up to declare the will of God. This will be a testing point to many in discerning; we have to know the Word of God and God’s Spirit ourselves. We have to make sure we stay in Christ Jesus, in Truth, in all these times we are facing soon.

That is also why we need Apostolic Prophetic Round Tables or Councils. We need those who have showed themselves to be chosen and sent by God in apostolic and prophetic ministry to help the Church in coming turbulent times to see the will of God. And also, because every man and woman, even being chosen by God as an apostle or prophet, is stil only a human being and not perfect, we need them to come together to seek God together and to prove everything they see and hear, if it is from the Lord or not.

Citing a another false teacher does not justify a false teaching.

Yes, not only are there no more Holy Scriptures to be written (1 Peter 1:20-21), there are no more prophets or Apostles.

The last prophet before Christ was John the Baptist.

Jesus spoke of many things that were prophetic. There are no more prophets after Christ until the end times when the 2 prophets appear that are spoken of in Revelation.

Paul was the last Apostle. There are no more. Anyone who calls themselves prophets or Apostles are in error.

John the Apostle was the last living Apostle and church prophet. He was given the prophecy of the revelation of Jesus Christ which is that book. That book is the last written prophecy. All prophecy prior to that book was also the revelation of Jesus Christ (Revelation 19:10) which the book is so named (Revelation 1:1-3).

Yes. But Paul was the last to come into the position.

The article linked below quotes scripture to claim that once the last apostle died, miracles ceased.

                          Miracles Have Ceased.

Miracles have not ceased. Just tongues. The spoken prophecy and the spoken word of knowledge have been down away. That is why tongues ceased. God saving a person is a miracle (Romans 1:16).

Miracles by a spoken prophecy has ceased.

I agree, I am not a cessationist, but my personal experience with those who genuinely have the gift of tongues is that its likely fewer and farther between than most tv preachers and some charismatic churches would want you to believe..... or the genuine gift is harder to find than the mimicry.
