Were you funnier before having kids?
Sometimes I feel like they have sucked my brain dry or something. I swear I used to be funnier before I had kids....
Anyone else?

Re: Were you funnier before having kids?
I don't think i was ever very funny. but i think I am more outgoing now that I have kids than i was, so in that aspect of it, I guess I'm more willing to offer up something whimsical, cute, clever, or otherwise comical. but funny?

no, I don't think I'm funny even now. although I like to think of myself as always cheery and happy....even when I really want to be sad (like cause I miss my kids right now) but I know it's a temporary thing, so I just push through it and be happy......
I guess it's not even remotely the same as what you're tlking about in the opening post......I thought prhaps I had something to add, but perhpsI don't.
no, I am not funny. I don't think I ever was.
but I know that when I'm with my family, we get to doing some silly things toether and are always laughing at each other......no sure that it means I'm funny, but perhaps just joyful and goofy?
I need a new signature.

Re: Were you funnier before having kids?
Something about getting older does seem to suck the humor out of people. The most recent example I can think of is this guy in front of me at KFC one night. He'd ordered something to go, and when the lady handed it to him, he said "I'm so hungry I might just have to eat it right here!" and started laughing as if he'd just said something clever. This doesn't seem to be atypical -- I've known many adults to laugh at inane ramblings(usually their own, but sometimes to humor someone else).
I try not to stare in abject horror when people do this. I really do. But it's just so horrible!

Re: Were you funnier before having kids?
I work in customer service, and tonight I had someone come in that fits this thread perfectly. I tried to crack a joke with a woman who was surrounded by three little kids AND was carrying a baby in her arms. She just stared at me. And she said "sorry, mommy is too tired to laugh. Mommy is too tired to do much of anything. Mommy is also talking in third person..."
... and they finished up, and walked out, the two little kids crying because their big brother looked at them cross-eyed.
Note to self. Any mommy with four kids is more than entitled to have no sense of humour at the end of the day.

I think I'm still funny.
My husband thinks I was more fun before we had children.

Nope. I never have been funny, and unfortunately, probably never will be funny. Bummer, cuz I love to make people laugh. Oh wait, I can make a 3 and 5 1/2 year old laugh. Does that count?

Ask me this question again in two weeks.

My most recent faith struggle is not one of intellect. I don't really do that anymore. Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and some other guys who can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly, I don't care. ~ Don Miller Blue Like Jazz
