I'm posting this because the article did not get the attention it deserves.
Apparently there is a cheap safe drug that cures cancer: dichloroacetate. It may actually work, the explanation makes sense. The reason why it doesn't get attention also makes sense: there is no patent on it and no money to be made from it.

In short, the drug switches on an enzyme that in turn switches on mitochondrites switched off by cancer who in turn start the apoptosis (cell suicide) process, killing the cancerous cell.

Sounds too good to be true on the one hand. Yet, on the other hand, being a cheap and unpatented drug, some of it makes sense.

Well, miracles happen anyways, although let's let the testing run thorough before proclaiming that we have a miracle drug.

There's another cheap way to kill cancer. Its called diet and exercise. The health system of today is messed up in so many terrible ways (particularly in America). But yes its true there are many ways to cure something that don't involve the pharmaceutical companies.

That's a good place to start getting the real information. Many doctors are critical of him (mainly the ones being paid by big companies) but he backs up all his articles with appropriate studies and statistics.

Diet and exercise are known to prevent cancer to a degree which is great. So do coffee and soy beans. B17 is completely unknown to me. The hormesis effect may prevent cancer.
Once the disease has taken hold the doctors are almost powerless. The remedies are toxic, have severe side effects and are expensive. Doctors use five year survival as an indicator of success, but this is not very ambitious.
If DCA works it will activate the body's own anti-cancer defense. It seems too good to be true but I will keep an eye on it.

The following is unrelated to the cheap cancer cure but equally important.
An article in Scientific American claims that a two day fast before chemotherapy increases the resistance of normal cells but not of cancer cells. This works for mice, It is not proven to work for humans but it will be investigated.

the diet and exercise does not stop you from getting cancer. nor does taking potions and poisons. cancer is something in everybodies body and they dont know what causes it to become active. healthy fit sports stars have had cancer, fat overweight middle aged people have had cancer old people, kids... are you going to tell the sports star he wasnt excercising enough?

cancer is not discrimatory... both my parents died of cancer, my aunty died at 13 with it... another aunty at 60. when they find out the trigger they will find a cure. sure some things may help slow it down and yes some people even manage to get rid of it.

problem is how many of those that get rid of it end up with it again 5-10 years or more later?

I know my mum was given the all clear and 5 years later she had it again because 1 minute particle had survived and moved to her liver.

it would be awesome if they found something that was a true cure and not just a bandaid or only worked for a few people.

Yes I would. Or they were dieting the wrong way. There have been many cases where people have cured their cancer with a very rigorous and detailed diet. Not many know how or are willing to go through with it, so instead we poison ourselves and hope that the poison kills the cancer too (chemo).

and there have been many who have done all the rigorous crap to try and get better and died anyway...what do you tell them? do you tell them well I know of people who have done just the same things as you and not died so you have to be doing something different?

and of course just like the faith healers they didn't do this right or didn't believe...its all the same...
you have your belief that cancer can be cured and anyone who isn't cured didn't do all the right stuff..

faith healers just believe that people don't have enough faith in God if they don't get healed.

there are plenty of people who do the right thing and die no matter whether its by cancer or whatever other means...it doesn't mean they ever did anything wrong or didn't try as hard as someone else.

Cancer is probably the biggest money maker for the pharmaceutical industry. It would be disastrous for the industry if a cheap cancer cure would be found.
Here is another potential and cheap medicine I found: graviola.

Extracts from the tree were shown to:

      prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer.
    * The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer

hunts down and kills only cancer cells. It does not harm healthy cells! 

There are side effects however: the drug may cause symptoms of Parkinson disease. Still, it could give someone a fighting chance.
