Strange thing is, I was just at the page and they don't work for me either. Bizarre. The way to get to the outlet is to go to here. (This link does work, I tested it.) Roll your mouse over "desktops." A drop down menu should appear, run your mouse down to "Dell Outlet Desktops." Clicky. You will bring up a model comparison chart.

Alternatively, you could take my word for it and just call 'em up and ask for the system. =D

Best of luck with buying from the Outlet, which seems a great way for you to go, since as you said yourself "I need a techie to go wtih me." This way, it's all pre-configured instead of you figuring out what you want.

luv that is kinda a low end system. only 2 ghz and 256mb of ram. The video card is kinda mediocre too. I would hold out for at least 3Ghz processor, 1GB Ram.

      try going here: http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/prod...hs1&l=en&s=dhs

and picking one of those E520's and customizing it. You can drop the monitor that comes with it, and the printer.

It has a dual core processor so that is like two processors in one, you can get a slower processor and get the same performance as a single core faster processor, so a 2.5 ghz dual core would probably be faster than a 3Ghz single core processor for most tasks. Get the largest hard drive and memory you can afford if you plan on doing a lot of movie and graphics stuff.

That's why I didn't consider a Mac my last time around - I had enough trouble getting stuff from Win98 to work on XP. Software isn't a biggie for me, but it has got to let me transfer WP files - at a minimum.

      Re: help

It does, no problem, as long as you save your docs in a digital format. All Macs come pre loaded with with MS Office.

      Re: help

That's not comforting - MS Office was what screwed up everything the last time. I like to never got that piece of junk off my computer so I could get into the normal WP.

      Maybe someday...

Word is superior software and will convert any word perfect docs. The real problem is that you were using a OS designed by the devil.

You see, that's the beauty of a Mac. It can make even evil things work for good. Sort of like Jesus if you want to think of it that way.

such blasphemy! you will rot in mac hell for saying that.

The mac is nothing but a copycat fanboy vampire. First it gave up on its own Operating System and stole Linux to base itself on. Then it finally gave up its own hardware and now it exists purely on intel PC hardware. And it uses Microsofts programs! What a lame computer. There is nothing original about it.

Yes, but they're so pretty. *_*

In all seriousness, Macs running BootCamp are awesome. Run Windows on a Mac, keep a small partition for OSX. Use the king of OS's; y'know, the one that's compatible with everything--which, to you Mac fanboys out there, is why it's more unstable: it's an equal-opportunity operating system.
