Just wondering what facts exist to support this statement.

Re: Gore says Bush admin. is paying scientists off
I seriously doubt if it is true. Gore is a typical left-wing wacko who lies about Bush. Laughably, the left-wing nutjobs have nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. What does making a film about global warming have anything to do with promoting world peace?

Re: Gore says Bush admin. is paying scientists off
From the article:
I don't know too much about Global warming, but it's clear that Gore did not explicitly make the claim.Editor's Note:
In an earlier version of this story, former Vice President Al Gore is quoted responding to a question asked by Cuatro, a television channel in Spain and a CNN affiliate, about a recent report in a London newspaper that payments were being made to scientists to dispute the issue of global warming. Gore responded to a question that incorrectly implied the Bush administration was making payments to scientists to debunk global warming. The Cuatro interviewer should have noted the Guardian Newspaper alleged that the American Enterprise Institute -- a Washington, DC-based think tank -- was offering to pay economists and scientists to dispute a United Nations report on global warming. AEI acknowledges soliciting authors to examine both the "strengths and weaknesses" of the report and did offer an honoraria of $10,000. Gore did answer the question as posed by the Cuatro interviewer.
Yet, what I would like to know is given the bribing of Armstrong Williams, and some other journalist I can't recall by the Bush admin, why are some so quick to exonerate Bush et al when they in fact have a history of bribing people to affect policy?
Not saying there's proof, but one would think a pause should be considered given past history. It's bad policy to speculate on what you'll do if a plan fails when you're trying to make a plan work." --Condi Rice

Re: Gore says Bush admin. is paying scientists off
This is just a lame attempt to discredit real science and the scientists who refuse to tow the liberal party line and pretend man made global warming is real.
Al Gore is a scumbag.Hay tao, why do you have a little pink umbrella in your drink?

Re: Gore says Bush admin. is paying scientists off
Since fossil fuel combustion remains Gore's primary designated culprit in an "Inconvenient truth", it seems to me that oil corporations would have a motive to attempt to corrupt scientific research pointing to their major contribution to the increase of carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere. The US automobile industry is equaly targeted for remaining way behind the production of low emission vehicles.
What is interesting to me is that those who deny the human responsibility for the current atmospheric pollution have no arguments other than shooting the messengers.
I would think that no matter which political label one favors, we would all consider realisticaly the future of our planet and educate ourselves as to what we can do NOW to preserve our natural and vital habitat. Adopting a contentious response based on political partisanship is IMO irresponsible.

Re: Gore says Bush admin. is paying scientists off
Of course big fat juicy grants to study global warming from orginizations that lean towards that Gore hypothesis have absolutely no effect on the research for more grant money.
The congressional report was pretty damning on the 19000% of scientist agree with Gore aspect of it."Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off. ."

Re: Gore says Bush admin. is paying scientists off
There will always be issues when politics dips its fingers into the scientific community. Vested interests, conflicts of interest and all that.
It's not clear what the accusation is. That people are taking money to falsify results? Or that people in the employ of the government/oil companies happen to be getting results that are favorable to the government/oil companies.

Man, don't you people realize that the more money we spend on bribing scientists, the less we'll have to buy carbon offsets from Al?
Sheesh.

Re: Gore says Bush admin. is paying scientists off
Gore, Moore and those "left-wing wackoes" have organized a worldwide conspiracy to infiltrate the world's scientific community and bribe the vast majority of the world's scientists.
This new world order of dastardly "left wing nutjobs" have "brainwashed" the following nations to sign the Kyoto Accords.
Its a well known medical fact that it is anatomically impossible to "brainwash" a Republican.
