"Rational" atheist "thinking" and "logic" at it's "best"
More hilarity from In-fudge-delguy.com:

I recently purchased a "God is just pretend" sticker and placed it on my rear car window. Upon returning from a week long vacation, I noticed that someone (most likely a believer) had removed the sticker from the window. This is more evidence of Christian hypocrisy; isn't "Thou shall not steal" a commandment? ~Gene - Tampa, FL

I guess that's one the commandments they overlooked.
It's okay though, because they are doing it for Jesus.
Oh, no. It couldn't possibly be someone else, like a covetous atheist who wanted the sticker for himself. The complete lack of evidence definitely points to a hypocritical Christian who was "doing it for Jesus."

Actually, I think it was an invisible pink unicorn who took his sticker.

August 31st 2003, 12:36 AM #6You're right, now that I think about it.
Given the ratio, though, it's more likely to have been taken by one identifying himself as a Christian.
I would guess that most Christians would say it is wrong to steal (or deface, etc) a non-theist's message. I wonder, though, how many of those would silently applaud the act.Last edited by Lazy Agnostic; August 31st 2003 at 12:45 AM.

You can assume all you want, LA, but I'm sure you know what that does to "u." Your argument based on "the ratio" is completely without merit (especially when we consider that invisible pink unicorns outnumber everyone on earth 5000 to 1
).

- If we're going to get THAT technical with it, he did say that it was most likely a believer, not that he was certain. And this conclusion is absolutely supported.
1. What atheist could covet a .50 sticker enough to peel it off someone else's car when he or she could buy one for themselves so easily? None I've ever met.
2. What real use is a sticker that has already been applied? That's a lot of time and effort for a used sticker.
3. How many atheists do we know that are thieves, especially towards their fellow atheists?
4. Some believers find such thoughts "blasphemous", and what good believer would stand for such a thing?
5. Some believers (especially here in Atlanta, where Reggie lives) get spitting mad at even the hint of someone not kissing the magic butt.
6. Some believers threaten atheists with bodily harm and property damage... easily dwarfing the petty theft of a sticker.
- I think the likelihood of a fellow atheist stealing that sticker for his own car is about equal to the liklihood of a Christian stealing it for his own car.

I guess my main question is why Infidel Guy refers to the thief as “they”. The writer seems to assume it was a single Christian, but Infidel Guy is obviously seeing some sort of conspiracy afoot here, assuming that the sticker could only have been stolen by a group of Christians, not just one guy acting alone. I guess the more of us he can blame, the better. Right?
And also, are Christians the only ones who might take offence at someone saying “God Is Just Pretend”? Aren’t there other people besides Christians who believe in God, or is the entire world divided into Christians and Atheists?

August 31st 2003, 09:17 AM #11Do you really think that this is the best example of atheist logic?"Rational" atheist "thinking" and "logic" at it's "best"
Or were you implying, with your use of quotation marks, that this was faux-logic?
Actually, what on earth were you trying to say with that title? The guy in the thing you posted did not claim to be rational, did not claim to be using logic, and did not claim that this was his best argument.
The title is so loaded that I don't even know what you meant. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you were not implying atheists can not be rational or logical. Care to clarify?
and...
Do you realize how ridiculous this sounds? As AtheistArchon pointed out, a used sticker is useless. Once a bumper sticker has been applied, it can not be reapplied effectively.Oh, no. It couldn't possibly be someone else, like a covetous atheist who wanted the sticker for himself. The complete lack of evidence definitely points to a hypocritical Christian who was "doing it for Jesus."
Ever taken off a bumper sticker? They typically come off in shreds and pieces. It would be almost impossible to pull it off as a sheet, let alone to reapply it.
So you say he has a complete lack of evidence for assuming it was a Christian. Not really:
1. An atheist would not have a reason to pull off the sticker since it can't be reused and he agrees with the message.
2. A Christian would have a reason to pull off the sticker since he is deeply offended by the message.
3. Christians have been known to deface anti-Christian objects.
4. Atheists have not been known to deface anti-Christian objects.
5. Hence, it is most likely a Christian who pulled it off.
Why a Christian and not another God-believer? Simple logistics. The guy who posted it said he lives in Tampa, where I lived for 2 years (I still live close). Christianity is definitely the dominant religion in Tampa, so probability implies it was probably a Christian.

Whew! A lot of smelly assuming and liberal use of logical fallacies going on in here. Apparently you guys just don't understand that this was most likely the act of an invisible pink unicorn:
1. All invisible pink unicorns covet .50 stickers enough to try to peel it off someone else's car, even though it ruins the stickers and they could easily by the stickers themselves.
2. The time and effort to remove such stickers is meaningless to invisible pink unicorns.
3. It is a known fact that all invisible pink unicorns are thieves.
4. All invisible pink unicorns find such thoughts "blasphemous," and they do not stand for such things.
5. All invisible pink unicorns everywhere (even where Reggie lives) get spitting mad at even the hint of someone not kissing the magic butt.
6. All invisible pink unicorns threaten atheists with bodily harm and property damage... easily dwarfing the petty theft of a sticker.
Additionally:
1. An atheist or Christian would not have a reason to pull off the sticker.
2. An invisible pink unicorn would have a reason to pull off the sticker since he is deeply offended it.
3. All invisible pink unicorns are known to deface all atheist stickers.
4. Invisible pink unicorns have not been known to deface any other objects.
5. Hence, it is most likely an invisible pink unicorn who pulled it off.

BTW, it was obviously an atheist who broke into our church a couple weeks ago. Like you guys and the putzes over at Infidelguy.com, I have no actual proof, but it's the only logical conclusion.Last edited by The Laughing Man; September 2nd 2003 at 03:03 AM.
