Help me choose a shampoo

I'm running out and I need to get some more. However, my skin is incredibly sensitive which means I itch all the time and I can't seem to stop it. What shampoo should I get that could help with that condition?

Go see a dermatologist. you probably need a prescription if it's that bad. In the meantime find one with as few additives (fragrance et al) as possible.

Yeah...I'd say you need to figure out what you are allergic to/irritated by, and then look on the ingredients. If not, try to find one for "sensitive skin".
A weird thing about shampoo...I used Garnier Fructis in America and then moved to England for a while. I found it there and was so happy that they had the same kind, so I bought some. I had some kind of allergic reaction to it! So...I guess the ingredients were different in the UK.

That's why I think you should figure out what you are allergic to. It might be some common allergy that a doctor or dermatolgist would know...or ask at the pharmacy and ask them to suggest something.

Suave has a fragrance free version of their product at Wal Mart. It is also extremely inexpensive. But if your condition is that bad, see a dermatologist.

I'm sure you've bought your shampoo by now. :) But here's my 2p worth...

Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulphate can be very irritating--it's the surfactant found in a lot of shampoos, which makes them so foamy. I'd watch out for shampoos containing those ingredients.

If your scalp is becoming a real problem, have you ever researched alternative forms of haircare? Indian herbs can be used to cleanse hair--shikakai and amla, for instance--and many people, including myself, find great success with product-free methods. I wash my hair with water in a warm--cool--warm--cool pattern, rinse with diluted apple cider vinegar and scent by spritzing with water, rosewater and jojoba oil. I use a boar bristle brush to spread my natural oils (sebum) down the length of my hair. It sounds icky, and there *is* an initial transition period of a month or so in which the hair is very greasy, but soon your scalp learns to produce less oils (as it's not being constantly stripped by harsh shampoo) and it all balances out nicely. My husband started doing WO (water only) a few weeks ago, and his hair is actually no more greasy than usual--in fact, I think it stays cleaner for longer than during his shampoo days. Best of all, your hair doesn't actually smell gross! It smells different--the best way I can put it is 'it smells like hair'--but it isn't unpleasant. It's just hard to get used to if you're used to having apricot-scented hair from shampoo. That's why I use rosewater. It smells gorgeous! But, being a guy and all, you might not care so much about scented hair. That's okay. :p The reason hair smells yucky when it's dirty is actually because of the shampoo/condish residue, going yucky (eugh). Once that's all gone, you're fine! Curious, no?

We need a bit more information, does this also include dandruff?
If so, try T-Gel.

I'm not sure you're still following this topic, but I found the above fascinating. Could you please detail your water-only method? Like how warm, how cool, and how long you keep your head under the water? Also, am I right in assuming that some oil -- like the jojoba oil you mentioned -- is essential(or at least beneficial)? And . . . know any scents that are masculine? I agree with you that rosewater would be . . . inappropriate for guys. Yeah.

I agree with the other poster who said to use T-gel (Neutrogena). I used to have a problem with eczema years ago and started using it on the advice of a dermatologist. It's expensive though, but it worked, as long as i used it every day. Then one day i decided to use plain Neutrogena shampoo, and found that that worked just as well. It is a little less expensive that T-gel, iirc.

I think garnier fructis is best and it softens the hair and makes hair healthy and strong. I have been using it for last four years and it has shown good results and i don't feel heavy weight of my hair.
