Re: May 2007 Screwballs of the Month
It's bad enough that he alluded to a school shooting due to recent events, but some parts were just plain stupid in it:
- Killing a classmate at school
- Strangling someone else
- Making the "10 Most Wanted List" of the F.B.I.
All because Santa Claus isn't real! I was expecting a "Santa = Satan" line somewhere in the tract, but it never came.
I hope the next tract isn't a ripoff of the Virginia Tech shooting or some other recent disaster, caused directly by one of these:
a) The Roman Catholic Church
b) A non-King James Version Bible
c) "Fantasy"
c) All of the above
Some of Jack Chick's tracts are actually decent, but this one had to be the worst I've ever read (even worse than The Attack). If I was a non-Christian and read that tract, Christianity would just look like a huge laughingstock.
On the other hand, his other new tracts were actually quite decent. He presented the Gospel in them without adding his own views to it:

Okay, how about this piece of hypocrisy:

Imagine all that money aimed at destroying the churches while pointing out the massive starvation problems the world currently has...and still will have once they've got rid of our churches! Why not feed the hungry first! Duh.Tektonics Research - All content, no jokes.

I'm sorry, I was trying to work out how to edit my post, and amen'd it by accident. Nominate me too, for praising my post! (j/k since accidents aren't nominations.) What I wanted to say was, mostly this site targets obviously fraudulent televangelists.

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." --C.S. Re: May 2007 Screwballs of the Month
Hmmm. Is that the point?
If I were God I would do things differently, yes.
Why can't I say that? Why? It's my way of asking whether or not your God exists, and if he isn't better than me I think that's evidence he doesn't exist.
You could always tell me why you think God was so inept and shortsighted that he did not condemn slavery in the Bible. As it is most Christians didn't see a problem with it, and they caused so much suffering. If I were good I'd make sure my people understood.

Re: May 2007 Screwballs of the Month
Hi DJ, thanks for replying.
The point of my nomination was that you - by complaining about slavery - are making a moral point, and then defeating it by claiming to be better than God.
Are you saying atheism is not the end-of-the-road, then? If you were God, you couldn't be an atheist. If I were God I would do things differently, yes.
So Mr DJ-God, since you claim to be better than me, why is your logic flawed? Maybe that's evidence you don't exist? Why can't I say that? Why? It's my way of asking whether or not your God exists, and if he isn't better than me I think that's evidence he doesn't exist.
But how can you ask if God has a quality at all if he doesn't exist? I mean, saying you're better than God says he has some quality. (the quality of not-better-than-you) I wouldn't argue that you can't say it, maybe you shouldn't as it is - well, shall we say, egotistical?
Um, you don't think that telling Christian slaves that if they found a way out they should take it is *not* condemnation? I think the primary reason is that slavery (in the NT) was a staple of Roman society, and outright condemnation would probably cause the Romans to step on the new religion rather than sneer at it.You could always tell me why you think God was so inept and shortsighted that he did not condemn slavery in the Bible. As it is most Christians didn't see a problem with it, and they caused so much suffering. If I were good I'd make sure my people understood.Tektonics Research - All content, no jokes.

Not that we haven't already corrected you 500 billion times on this subject.
And yet he still makes the same mistakes.
And then he wonders why God didn't explicity condemn a specific form of slavery....as if that would help.
DJ....you're just too dumb to see your own contradictions.

Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.

I think Jim Eisele is on his way towards another Gold for his even-more-awful-than-usual assault on free will in Apologetics.
Okay, I finally have a blog.
