Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing
God is a Four Letter Word - Love…
In less than a week, on Ash Wednesday we will officially enter the Easter Season. For me at no other time of the year than Easter is God’s Love more powerful, intimate, and demonstrated than at Easter. Paul describes the Easter Season as the Love Season this way. “For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:6–8, NKJV)
Three of the most important words in human language are “I LOVE YOU!” Not only is “I LOVE YOU” important to hear it is equally important for us to say. Their importance comes not because we need to hear or read them and/or need to speak or write them but because Jesus commands us to love. “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:12–13, NKJV) I know they can flow off a tongue very easily but that’s not the case when they flow out of the heart because when they come from the heart whether spoken or written words are accompanied by our body language.
“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” I don’t know why it seems love is the strongest when to love is the hardest. Not only is love the strongest when to love is the hardest but our need to be loved it most powerful when we find ourselves “walking through the valley of the shadow of death”.
No matter how imperfectly we love GOD’s LOVE IS PERFECT! I leave you with this promise from God. “Because he (you) has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him (you); I will set him (you) on high, because he (you) has known My name. He (You) shall call upon Me, and I will answer him (you); I will be with him (you) in trouble; I will deliver him (you) and honor (you) him. With long life I will satisfy him (you), And show him (you) My salvation.”” (Psalm 91:14–16, NKJV, modifications mine)
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
Gary
