      sex and limits

So for the Christian married couple, should there be limits? If so, why so? I'm not trying to be dirty or funny, I'm honestly curious. What would be wrong so long as an act is consensual? I'm not interested in 'golden showers' or anything of that nature, but if someone was and their partner was consenting, is that somehow wrong?

Nope, once you're married you can go to town on your partner. Of course respecting the limits that no doubt the woman has imposed.

I pretty much think that what goes on between a man and his wife is up to their consciences and mutual consent. Intimacy doesn't exist solely for the purpose of procreation--it exists also as a way that a married couple can bring pleasure to each other and thereby strengthen their bond.

What I'd say is out of bounds is introducing other people into the sexual act, causing harm to each other, and forcing something upon the other that they do not want to do, which violates the respect of one partner for the other.

As far as I know, there is only one "off limits" in the bedroom:

      Re: sex and limits

I think there's more to it than just consent... One has to consider the effects of sex on one's partner, even if they do consent, especially health effects. I would consider it immoral for someone with herpes or HIV to have sex with a spouse, even if the spouse consented.

      Re: sex and limits

Now this brings up an intresting discussion musicman, It is a bit off the first topic though so if Rey wants me to make another thread for it just say so.

Its kind of funny though, its the old 'would you have sex if it killed you?" bit.
Alas' some fates are worse than death. In some ways I think this is one of them. First off I want to make it subjectivly different than screwing after a heart transplant, usually with heart conditions its a matter of time before it becomes possible to be intamate again, the conditions do not usually clear up completely but moderation usually allows for more activity and if patience will anull or limit the risk than patience is the right course of action. With the STD's mentioned patience will not reduce or anull the risks.
The problem with this response is that its on the door of saying 'people with genetic disorders should never have children.' You may say that, but do you want to? If you do open that can of worms I'll do what I can to help clean it up,
To sum though, I do not belive it is Amoral to choose a shorter life with intamacy than a longer one without. It isnt as if the disease causes the death anyway, it just hurries it. Were all gonna die for prexisting reasons.

      Re: sex and limits

Certain acts that are degrading (golden showers) or cause injury (anal sex tearing of membranes) should be off limits for any couple whether married or not.

      Re: sex and limits

I've no interest in peeing or being peed upon, or anal sex. But....again, if both parties found it enjoyable and were married...why not?

I would challenge the mental state of the participants. What could be enjoyable about degradation and bodily injury?

But bodies are made for penis-in-vagina sex. The anal orifice is one way - out.

I think that's a decision that they would have to make for themselves.
But, not a decision they should take lightly.
