iPhone, anyone getting one?
I almost certainly won't, at least not for a while. I'm not too much of a fan of the "jack-of-all-trades" approach to convergent devices.
But I think I'll swing by an Apple store today to see what it's like and play around with it a bit.~Gabe

I will drill a hole in your head for free.
I want one... badly, but the word I am hearing about the crappy EDGE network will keep me off of one until they go to 3G.Nochyu mokraya ptitsa nikogda ne letaet.

Well, I got to play with one for a while and I'm pretty impressed with it. Definitely not too tempted to buy one just yet, but it seems to work exactly as advertised.

Re: iPhone, anyone getting one?
I'm trying to convince Mrs. Pilgrim I should have one. I just love the idea of having a completely integrated device for my Mac. A device that syncs to all my mac software. You know?
I love my palm pilot but it is awkward syncing it my mac and especially since I have to use the palm desk top because it syncs neither to entourage nor mac mail. I also recently dropped my iPod so having a music device again would be very nice."Yes, I'm quite concerned about health care issues surrounding leaked radiation from Japan. My most recent faith struggle is not one of intellect. I don't really do that anymore. Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and some other guys who can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly, I don't care. ~ Don Miller Blue Like Jazz

Gruber has a post on iPhone First Impressions. Provides another perspective on how the device actually fairs.
One thing that I have not heard before was any info mobile iCal. Apparently you wind up with only one calendar on iPhone, you can't have multiples. Which really sucks because I use iCal constantly and the multiple calendar feature is one of my favorite features.

I am likely waiting for the second generation... the only thing as I said that is making me leery is the EDGE limitation.

Re: iPhone, anyone getting one?
the thing that really bugs me is the lack of native 3rd party applications. I mean, it would be so totally sexy to have a mobile OmniOutliner Pro that syncs to my OOP on the desktop. Oh that would be so sweet and so worth the $599 pricetag.

Re: iPhone, anyone getting one?
I was just thinking about whether or not we'll see refurbished iPhones show up in the Apple Store in a couple months and if so, at what price point. I also just read that you can make your iPhone prepaid by entering 999-99-9999 as your SSN.
Oh my goodness, if they could get a refurb out for $300-$350 or so, and let me spend hardly any money on a cell service I don't need, I'd almost certainly get one. Where I am most of the time has wifi access, and it would solve my PDA/iPod/and occasional emergency phone needs in one fell swoop with one of the most useful devices around. Oh I hope they will do something like this.

They probably will show up in the refurb store. I am pretty sold on purchasing things that way now having two products from there at significant savings.
