Is It Really Safe Here?
In this forum, are posters safe to engage in free exchange of ideas and even speculation?
When I ask, is it safe here, I don't only mean here, but in extension, to the other Tweb forums.
In other words, if a poster here has what might be a far-fetched bit of speculation, even though that poster is safe here , is the poster safe from ad hom attacks in the other forums.
In other words, just because a poster might not get ad hommed here, can the poster be maligned from another Tweb forum. Can posters at, say, the naturalism forums post something like, "did you see what that moron posted in Applied Protology 301, He/she knows better to come here with that tripe!"
In other words, the poster would still be ad hommed for expressing there speculations, and it wouldn't do any good to think you're safe here in this forum.

Re: Is It Really Safe Here?
There are certain areas off-limits to some people, (theists are not allowed in Naturalism, for example) but that doesn't prevent them from replying to the post by starting a new thread in an area they are allowed in. So yeah, an atheist could mock one of your posts here in Naturalism. I don't see them doing that too often though. I think they'd tend to do so in Natural Science instead, where you both could post. The area restrictions are not set up to stifle contrary views, but to allow people to limit the points in contention. This area, for example, is strictly OEC vs. YEC, so people can discuss the finer points of that debate without having to defend the idea of creationism itself.

Re: Is It Really Safe Here?
Its occurred to me that posters may not want to give up their ad hom habits.
The replies have been scarce in this forum.
It can't be because there is a restriction on 'tough scrutiny' because there aren't any restrictions like that in the topics and guidelines here. But there are restrictions on ad homs. I guess scrutiny isn't as much fun if you can't ad hom along with it.
I am having that deja vu feeling, hiding behind my ma's skirts, and the rest of the kids didn't really want to come over to my house to play, (where they have to behave)
"If you wanna play, come out to the playground where we can bloody your nose and we can all get just a little bit dirty"
I guess if I wanna play, I'll have to leave this safehouse.
Thus endeth my short sojourn at Applied Protology 301.
