I've been wondering about this question because when I was trying on different religions, before I came back to faith, I practiced meditation. It wasn't a daily practice but it was frequent. I would practice what is known as "Mindfulness Meditation" it helped me with my depression issues.
In this form of meditation you just sit, focus on the breath and allow thoughts and feelings to arise in your field of consciousness and you just "watch" them arise and subside without involving yourself in them.
This trains the mind to see the impermanence of all thought forms and teaches you to not become attached to any form and thereby release yourself from suffering.
It is a very Buddhist practice.
I am wondering because I gained great benefit from the practice and I don't see anything in the bible that would specifically rule this practice out.
What thoughts do any of you have?
