Has anybody played this yet?

I have. It's pretty good. I loved the new addition to armored SWAT team zombies and mini-boss zombies. The roving Witch is a nice touch, even if it does make my nerves fry. I also loved my character of choice, Ellis. He seems to be an "everyday man" who can make you laugh just by listening to his accent.

But I didn't like the new music that plays when a horde comes. Fiddle music? Really? Also, the new melee weapons seem to just be a gimmick, although (and it may just be me, but I noticed that my shotgun ran on empty WAY too quickly) they did seem to reduce the amount of ammo you can carry so they MIGHT come in handy in a pinch.

All in all, it was fun but from the one level that I was allowed to play, I don't see it being so radically different from the first game that it would deserve its purchase price. Not until it drops, at least.

I like it. For one, new weapons help out balance problems big time. Before, if you get tier two you just grab auto shotty and and run to the end. Waaaaaaaay to easy to win as survivors before. Playing in daytime is a nice change, and my eyes don't hurt so badly. All in all, it kind of feels the same as the first game. The biggest change will come from the Spitter, which basically nullifies the shiva defense.

Now that you mention it, that IS true. I always grab the shotgun because of its supreme ueberness. But (and maybe its just me and I have to readjust) they appeared to go to the other extreme and severely limit its ammo capacity. There should be a middle ground.

Playing in daytime is a nice change, and my eyes don't hurt so badly.
Also true. Night time is so cliche.

All in all, it kind of feels the same as the first game. The biggest change will come from the Spitter, which basically nullifies the shiva defense.
Oooo, good point. I never thought of that. But all you have to do is quickly find another corner and shiva away.

I pre-ordered for the 360 and got early access.

I think it's great. I've beaten it on Expert at least two times. There are many improvements and when the 17th hits, it's going to be fun to relive the wonder of new levels and finding out everything there is to in VS mode. I miss those days!

Not too much longer to go!

The demo is good fun. I even played it online through Steam.

The use of melee weapons takes things up a level (machete carnage!) and the daytime setting does make a difference. The idea of panic events (the ring-fence maze with the alarm at the middle) did make for some tense situations.

Not so impressed with the new special infected, but they may come into their own once the action director gets inventive on harder difficulties.

I've pre-booked it for my PC.

Spitter is _dangerous_ on Expert, especially since the other specials tend to either pin you in the spit or push you into it (Jockey).

Also, you should know that the walking witch can in fact spawn in the middle of the "shut the alarm off event" corridors.
