I'm thinking about signing up for the registry though I understand the chances of actually getting called to donate aren't that high. Anybody here actually donated before?

Lobby Guidelines
You've made it through the revolving doors and now you can mingle and mill about. If you feel like spamming, please head down the hall to the right to the RecRoom. But, if you'd like to meet people, chat about nothing in particular, you know...have polite conversation that doesn't seem to fit easily into any of the other rooms, this is the place!
The Lobby is not for serious debates, there are other areas for those types of conversations. It is more for relaxed chatting or discussing things that don't fit elsewhere. Politics, religion and philosophy have their own place on the site
But remember, always play by the rules: here

Donating bone marrow
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard RavenhillTags: None

Not bone marrow, but you reminded me that I haven't given blood in ages.
I used to be a major donor, then I did mission work in Haiti, and back in the day, having visited Haiti was one of the reasons you would be prohibited from donating blood.
Need to get back to that! The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

This said bone marrow donation is a whole different thing that it was when I signed up. I have a friend who just received a "transplant" resulting from her leukemia. Now it just involves a IV from a specially prepared donor. (The preparation involves treatment to greatly increase the level of multipotent hematopoietic stem cells in the donors blood.)Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

I may stick to blood and plasma donations for the time being, at least until I turn regular at work.
Thanks for the info."I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers."
