In fact, I read an interesting article this past year about how Woodward and Bernstein (which I still think sound like a pair of Broadway composers) weren't entirely honest about who Deepthroat was and what he really knew, were flat out wrong about some critical details, and completely missed that Nixon himself had perpetrated a coverup, which was the most damning piece of evidence to come out of the impeachment inquiry.
But you go ahead and keep believing the myth that a pair of journalists and their anonymous source took down an American president.

Originally posted by JimL View PostYes, and do you remember what the crime was that was the cause of the impeachment Inquiry into Nixon? I'll tell you. It was the attempt by Nixon to have his attorney general fire the special prosecutor. Trump did that a long time ago when he tried and failed to get Mcgahn, Jeff Sessions, and his former campaign manager, can't remember the losers name, to fire Mueller. Trumps already been given far more leeway than was Nixon. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Originally posted by CharlesSo you are now claiming impeachment began? When?
On Saturday, July 27, the House Judiciary Committee approved its first article of impeachment charging President Nixon with obstruction of justice. Six of the Committee's 17 Republicans joined all 21 Democrats in voting for the article. The following Monday the Committee approved its second article charging Nixon with abuse of power. The next day, the third and final article, contempt of Congress, was approved.
The impeachment process was in full swing when Nixon resigned. Perhaps you're confusing the impeachment process in the House (which was happening) with the trial in the Senate - which never happened, due to Nixon's resignation DURING the impeachment phase. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Originally posted by Charles View PostThanks, but your original post was not about "impeachment process" but simply about "impeachment". I was confused by that but English is not my main language so that might explain it.
Here's a pretty good article on the overall impeachment (attempt) of Richard Nixon.
Articles of impeachment had, in fact, been drafted and approved by the House Judiciary Committee. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Contrast this with Mueller being appointed to investigate Trump without a crime ever having been committed! Some may call me foolish, and some may call me odd

Originally posted by Mountain Man View PostYou're uninformed. Read the link Cow Poke helpfully provided if you want the real facts, but the short version is the whole thing started because of an actual crime: the Watergate break-in. This was followed by arrests and convictions through which hard evidence was discovered that led straight back to the Oval Office. This prompted the Senate to appoint a special prosecutor who uncovered even more damning evidence, including public testimony from firsthand witnesses that Nixon had orchestrated the break-in, was involved in a cover-up, and that he had personally bribed the Watergate "burglars" to keep their mouths shut. It was around this time that Nixon attempted to have the special prosecutor fired. It was only then, after it was clear that Nixon was deeply involved in criminal activity, that there were calls for his impeachment.
