  • Beer taste gross.

I decided to try some as my roomates were having a party. Honestly the stuff is just gross. The music they were listening to was loud and obnoxious. Honestly I just dont get it. Vaping and drinking just seems to me like the opposite of what socialising should be. You arent getting to know someone as much as you apparantly are trying to remove your inhibitions. Inhibitions are not a bad thing. I admit it was fun to socialize and such , but beer is not a part of that for me.

What kind of beer was it? Beer is not for everyone, obviously, but I'm curious.

I like beer, but I like bitter and bittersweet quite a bit, especially when paired with something rich.

So cheap beer, which is typical for college parties. Not the worst, from what I understand. My default mainstream is Sam Adams.

As far as inhibitions go, I am an introvert with chronic anxiety, so a beer is a significant help in greasing the wheels when I don't want to be awkward at a party or a networking event (which are the wooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOooOOorst). I mean, if it was a party solely consisting of people I know really well, then I'm 100% fine with nothing, but the more mixed the company, the more miserable I get on soda water alone. I almost never have more than 2, though, and certainly never more than 3. Depending on how long the party is, one is usually sufficient.

I tried 4 or 5 beers before I found one that I liked. Light beers tend to not have much flavor, and what flavor they do have is typically not very good.

Molson Ice (the first I liked) was my go-to beer for a while, until I got into craft beer.

I was told Keystone Light is worse, but I've never had either.

There is no need to drink beer to be sociable. If your crowd needs it to loosen up they may be too tight. Since I was saved I gradually stopped drinking any alcohol. I do not see it as bad but I just seldom drink any more. When I was under active chemo alcohol was forbidden. I did not miss it. Now that I can have it I don't see any likelihood of starting up something that I was hardly doing.

That said, I would not be averse to a Guinness or two. I do not drink often enough to have found any new favorites.

Drink or do not, but do not get drunk. It is not really fun.

Yeah, there really is no point to getting drunk and putting yourself at risk of throwing up or blacking out or having a really bad headache the next day.

Beer was absolutely an acquired taste for me--as was coffee.

The headache is fairly avoidable (drink water in between your favorite libations), but yeah.

Well, that's why I said putting yourself at risk. Not everyone even gets hungover.

I think my 21st birthday was about the only time I did - and the hangover didn't really start kicking in until noon or so the next day. Not a good day to be trying to stop flooding in a mockup engine room.
