Got a note from Judy L. a couple of days ago. While she was changing planes on her way home from Boston, she got a call and Katie [Judy's daughter] was in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism. She told me last night that the clot isn’t dissolving with medication as they’d like, so surgery is still possible. Judy’s had to postpone her own surgery to remove the bone stimulator in her back until Katie is out of the woods, and she is keeping Katie’s daughter for the time being.
Judy is a close family friend who (along with her husband Steve) has stood beside us and helped out immensely in everything from my sister's wedding several years ago to our recent loss of my great-niece Aura Kay. I've known her for a long time, and Katie since she was about nine years old (you can imagine how I felt when she became a mother a couple of years ago).

As always, Curt's last post was a prayer for someone else.

oh dang. I just found out about Curt!

but you know what? Now Aura has someone there to be with her.

oh my god, i had no idea he was even sick. wow, what a loss. this place will never be the same without him, it's so sad, he was truly a special, charming, intelligent, endearing, caring,good spirited, warm hearted, and God loving man. I just can't believe it. I just can't believe it.

When did this happen?!

Excellent choice for Honors hall.

I will miss Curt's posts. He was always very witty funny and so caring.

Maybe, then, we should give a prayer to Curt's loved ones, that our Father is with them in this time of mourning.

It is fitting, in a way; All Hallow's Eve is here, and even we who didn't know him very well can remember and thank God that He has taken him into His Son's presence.

Oh Lord. I didn't know.
