  • Can Anyone Find Evidence Of This?

I read this report in two places, HuffPost (gag!) and The Independent. Neither provided any video evidence of their claim, which is that Trump had "peaceful protesters" cleared out of his path with tear gas, so he could do a photo op at a church. I looked on YouTube and also found no evidence there. If true, it is despicable. But because HuffPost is on par with CNN for fake news, I don't believe it without proof.

    Anyone?

    Probably referring to this story:

I don't know what happened. I'm hearing some reports that the protestors were ordered multiple times to disperse and ignored repeated warnings that force would be used if they refused.

The problem I am having with this, is that a "peaceful" protest usually comes with permission or a permit from some local jurisdiction. Was this over-ridden by Trump just so he could get a good campaign photo?

And even if no permit was given, if they weren't breaking any laws or local ordinances, then they were within their right to peacefully protest.

Again, not good. Trump had better learn the difference between protesters and rioters.

I doubt Trump personally ordered it. This would have been coordinated by the secret service.

According to here this was arranged absolutely last minute without adequate time for the SS to prepare.

Trump wanted a photo op. So he had innocent, peaceful protesters gassed to make it possible to get the photo op.

If you think that is going to do anything but make this all much, much, worse, I have beachfront in Arizona I'd like to sell you.

Donald Trump is the single worst possible person we could have as President at this moment in history.

Here is an account from one of the clergy attached to the church.

(from the subsequent tweet to the one I linked)

                  Just spoke with Rev. Gerbasi.

She told me that law enforcement with shields forced priests, others *off the church patio,* meaning they stepped on church property to expel people from it.

Hard to comprehend this as anything more than a hasty action to take the focus off of Biden's church visit earlier today. What a disaster.

Those two ideas aren't mutually exclusive; he could have ordered it AND coordinated it with the secret service.

This stunt is getting roundly criticized by multiple voices from the church.

                      https://www.palmerreport.com/politic...e-stunt/29280/

Mariann Budde, the Episcopal Bishop for the District of Columbia, told the media that Donald Trump had no business pulling the stunt, and that in particular he has no business invoking the Bible, because “everything he has said and done is to enflame violence.”

Then Bishop Michael Curry, who presides over the Episcopal Church, tweeted this: “This evening, the President of the United States stood in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church, lifted up a bible, and had pictures of himself taken. In so doing, he used a church building and the Holy Bible for partisan political purposes. This was done in a time of deep hurt and pain in our country, and his action did nothing to help us or to heal us.”

Now the rubber hits the road for RWNJs -- are they going to stand for such a perverse distortion of everything the Church stands for?

The Episcopal Church is generally considered well left of center so those statements shouldn't catch anybody off guard.

There are a lot of beachfront properties in Arizona, including those that line the beaches on the shores of Lake Havasu. This cabin, for example. There is, however no seafront property.

Most of what we're seeing with regard to this story is people's reactions. I have seen little if any information about what actually happened.
