I'll confess I'm not sure how they imagine the police-can't-enter part works because obviously civilians don't have guns in general in Europe, so obviously nothing could stop the police entering... I assume the US right-wingers are projecting their own ideas of some sort of fortified Christian secessionist cult group in Montana (that the police are afraid to go near because they've stockpiled more firearms than the average military base) onto European Muslims (who largely don't have firearms, cos gun control) and aren't as violent or crazy as some of the US Christian groups. In the US right-wing fantasy, in these fictional Muslim controlled zones, Sharia law is enforced (somehow?) and police don't go (not sure why?).
Also as we discussed in a previous thread, the current US ambassador to the Netherlands was taken to task by Dutch media for his absurd claim that there were Muslim-caused no-go zones in the Netherlands and cars and politicians being set on fire by Muslims, which he promptly lied about and claimed he'd never said it and called it 'fake-news' and then immediately lied one minute later by denying he'd just used the words 'fake news'... and a month later the Dutch media still wasn't letting him get away with his fantasy claims about the crazy things Muslims were supposedly doing in the Netherlands:

Originally posted by Terraceth View Post?????????? The SPD, the political party in question, isn't anti-immigrant at all. In fact, the sticking point in regards to immigration between the two parties in negotiations was that the SPD wanted more lenient immigration policies for refugees than Merkel's party did. Your description of the situation is essentially the exact opposite of what's happening.

Originally posted by Starlight View PostI was referring to the AfD (small anti-immigration party), the first party that Merkel (CDU/CSU primary right-wing party) tried to negotiate a coalition with. Since the election in September, Merkel has been trying to negotiate a coalition govt. With the SPD (primary left-wing party) initially ruling out a repeat of the previous coalition with Merkel, Merkel was forced to try to negotiate with the anti-immigration AfD. Cow Poke's quote of Merkel talking about toning down immigration comes from a point in time when she was still trying to get an agreement from the anti-immigration AfD or looking at a new election having to be called.
However, even if there was such an attempt between the falling out of the FDP and Greens and the re-attempt to form a coalition with the SPD, that would have been around December 2017. Cow Poke's quote in question is from December 2016. So it doesn't make any sense to try to ascribe circumstances that didn't arise until a year later for why Merkel made the statements she did back in 2016.

It's kind of funny how afraid people are of certain areas needlessly, like when people say "Don't go east of Troost in Kansas City or you'll get killed!" ad nauseum. I cross Troost all the time, the vast majority of the area is really not that bad."I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill
