  • Sanders eyes ‘bigger’ 2020 bid despite some warning signs

I do think Sanders would have done better against Trump than Clinton would have, but of course that's impossible to know for sure.

I think his age would be a turn-off to a lot of people. He was pushing it a bit in the last election, but 4 years exacerbates the problem. The oldest a President has been while in office was Ronald Reagan, who was almost 78 years old when he left office after two terms. Bernie Sanders, if elected, would be older than that at the start of his first term. His pick for vice president would probably be more important for his election chances than anything about himself.

Think the Democrats will let him win the primary this time?

Yeah, I know. Too young to be eligible

I'm always still in trouble again

Obama, Oprah, Ocasio-Cortez, Beto.... I'm seeing a pattern here!

I might well have voted for Sanders over Trump. I think Sanders would have better energized the Democrat base, and didn't have HRC's/Trump's high negative ratings.

Crazy Bernie's painfully naive grasp of economic policy would have been a disaster for the country.

With GOP in control of both chambers of Congress, his economic impact would have been limited.

But had he actually won the election, it's likely he would have had coattails that changed that dynamic, as well, no?

Possibly in the Senate, but I don't think it would have been sufficient to swing the House.

I'm actually losing confidence in the system, as each successive generation seems to be more about "what's in it for me" than "what's good for the country".

I think that if the country were to get to the point where a Bernie Sanders could be POTUS, it's because enough people voted the "what's in it for me", and the House would fall as well.

To be honest, I think every generation has been more about "what's in it for me" than otherwise. Pork has always been around for a reason.

I don't think Bernie could've beaten just anybody, but Trump was not exactly a strong candidate.

No argument whatsoever - I just think it seems to be accelerating.

A woman with a compulsive need to have her picture on every single issue of the magazine she founded isn't going to play second fiddle to anyone.
