Deeper Waters Forum Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

Deeper Waters is founded on the belief that the Christian community has long been in the shallow end of Christianity while there are treasures of the deep waiting to be discovered. Too many in the shallow end are not prepared when they go out beyond those waters and are quickly devoured by sharks. We wish to aid Christians to equip them to navigate the deeper waters of the ocean of truth and come up with treasure in the end.

We also wish to give special aid to those often neglected, that is, the disabled community. This is especially so since our founders are both on the autism spectrum and have a special desire to reach those on that spectrum. While they are a special emphasis, we seek to help others with any disability realize that God can use them and that they are as the Psalmist says, fearfully and wonderfully made.

  • Why The Church Should Deal With Prophecy Experts

What difference does it make if someone is a prophecy expert?

When you say "prophesy experts" are you referring to people who "interpret" the various prophesies in the bible (particularly the end times) or of people who claim to be "prophets" and are making prophesies?

Unfortunately, it's pretty much impossible for "the church" to do much because it is so fractured. At best, the expert's denomination can condemn him/her.

When I was younger, we used to have "prophecy experts" come to our Church on a fairly regular basis (a couple times a year) with their charts and graphs and timelines 'proving' that Jesus would return after X event, or that Y and Z needed to occur, THEN Christ would return, etc.... It was mostly pre-trib pre-millenial rapture stuff with with cliff notes.

Since then, I've become a panmillenialist.

That stuff was popular back in the 70s and 80s.

I'm always still in trouble again

When I was in youth group back in the 90's, we watched one of the rapture movies that were made in the 70's or 80's and were still popular in the 90's. I think it was a miniseries we watched.

I always got a kick out of the "advanced electronics" they portrayed --- sometimes downright goofy.

You mean like A Thief in the Night? They scared us with those movies when I was young.

There was one where they were talking about the "electric eye" on newer TVs (back in the 70's/80's) that measured room lighting to adjust screen brightness - and these "electric eyes" were ACTUALLY miniature cameras, and the cable system was bidirectional, so everything you did in front of the TV was recorded and you were being watched!

I had a young man in my Church who absolutely became paranoid over this, and would put black electrical tape over anything that he thought might be a camera! (Not a bad idea, by the way, for your notebook computer, or monitors with built-in cameras, because they CAN be activated remotely)
