Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.

and... “8 And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God, 9 but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God. 10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. 11 And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”

Why was Paul arrested and beaten so many times? He was not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, and preached it openly.

This whole notion of concealing your Christianity is, like I said, just downright nutty. And it's EXACTLY what the enemies of the Cross want.

You can't say the same about Buttigieg. He may be a Christian, I don't know.

Our entire debate here is purely about Tassman proclaiming that Buttigieg himself claimed to be a "Practicing Christian" and when we asked him for a source he is unable to provide one, and he keeps changing his story about what his initial claim was.

This is about Tassman's propensity to make up stuff and claim it as fact and not being able to back it up.
I'll leave you all to it. My original interest in this was largely concerning why any of this was of such concern to Tass. The side issues have "meh" interest to me.

How does one fulfill the great commission (Jesus' last instructions before leaving the planet in the flesh) as a "secret agent" Christian?
Presumably, this has nothing to do with what I posted, because it has little/nothing to do with what I said. If it was intended to be in response to my posts, then you have misunderstood my posts.

It's just another example of you inserting yourself and spewing forth 'knowledge' without even understanding the issue. But you can have the last word.

The only conclusion to which I can come is that "Christians" like Buttigieg are the only acceptable "Christians" to guys like Tass --- pro homosexual, pro abortion, and absolutely nothing about sin, repentance, Salvation...

OK - out of sheer morbid curiosity, what "knowledge" do you think I was "spewing forth?"

So - no. Once again, you have shifted what I actually WAS saying to be something I was NOT saying, and then responded to your own statements rather than mine.

The discussion I involved myself in was about "practicing Christian," and the suggestion put forward that Buttigieg is not evidencing being a "practicing" Christian (e.g., engaged with his community, attending services, living his Christian faith). I noted that it is possible he is not a "practicing Christian," or it is possible he is adhering to the passage I cited. Knowing what is going on requires knowing the man's heart, so I think folks are over-reaching.

Somehow that all became "a good Christian cannot talk about his faith," which is not something I ever said or suggested or thought. Indeed, I don't try to define what a "good Christian" is since I am no longer one.

And my morbid curiosity is satisfied, and my suspicions confirmed. Thanks for the response.

I think what Cow Poke is saying is that your interpretation of that passage--as either teaching or possibly teaching that one shouldn't even claim Christianity--is very odd.

And, while claiming to be a "professional communicator", sometimes you really suck at it, and you leave yourself wide open -- like posting an argument by weblink without commenting on what you think it means.

and then responded to your own statements rather than mine.
Then why don't you just plainly say what you mean, and stop with the verbosity/word salad games? I'm just about to the point where I believe you just do that on purpose to prolong the agony.

The discussion I involved myself in was about "practicing Christian," and the suggestion put forward that Buttigieg is not evidencing being a "practicing" Christian (e.g., engaged with his community, attending services, living his Christian faith). The passage you cited out of context, which has nothing to do with being a "secret Christian, and only displays your ignorance on the matter?

Knowing what is going on requires knowing the man's heart, so I think folks are over-reaching.
And we can't know his heart - all we can do is look what he actually says and does, or does not say or does not do. From everything that I can see, he allows himself to be wrapped in some kind of cloak of a liberation theology version of Christianity from which he attacks others for their faith.

Somehow that all became "a good Christian cannot talk about his faith," which is not something I ever said or suggested or thought. Indeed, I don't try to define what a "good Christian" is since I am no longer one.
So, you retaliate by putting words in MY mouth?

And my morbid curiosity is satisfied, and my suspicions confirmed. Thanks for the response.
What a steaming load of passive aggressive horsie poo. But we can have the last word again, yes?
