What president has ever had any medical or scientific training? Reagan? Bush? Obama? As I said before, I doubt any other previous potus or 2016 candidate would have been able to express it any better, which is why they would have likely just kept quiet about it. Now if your argument is he should have been smart enough to keep quiet about it, then I can't really argue. But that's Trump.

No need to interpret, Trump simply said what he said.

      Hotspur: Why, so can I, or so can any man;
But will they come when you do call for them? Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part 1, Act III:

I think it is some pretty basic knowledge, literacy, to recognize the difference between sanitizing the counter to eliminate or reduce virus load, and using disinfecting procedures internally. No medical degree required, rather a grade six education.

From Reagan to Obama, we have had presidents who recognized that sometimes they needed to incorporate scientific advise to be coherent and consistent. They were knowledgable enough to know that their scientific expertise was less than the experts.

We have enough clear evidence that it is obvious that Trump ignores science experts on this pandemic. People are dying, people are suffering. Time for Trump to act like an adult.

He was also right to stop flights from China and Europe when he did. And he is right to suspend green cards right now. On economics he seems to be very capable. On medical topics he is a moron.
On jobs, it’s easy to increase jobs with a few tweaks. The corporate tax credit had a short term effect and was dependent on Trump also killing regulations. You know, like the kind that don’t allow billionaire energy investors to destroy mountaintops and not plan for mine tailing floods.

Trumps has done very little with manufacturing compared to a maverick. Case in point: he could easily manufacture his idiotic MAGA wares. Guess where a majority of his products are made.

It’s good to see you cringe like all of us, but don’t buy into Trump being thoughtful on the economy. He’s no more thoughtful than was Bill Clinton, who just as shrewdly pandered to big business.

Literally not a single adult I have talked to about this has thought Trump's suggestion anything other that totally crazy (and deadly). It's not medical training you need to recognize the problems with this, it's basic knowledge of the world.

Furthermore, if Trump was interested in mulling over these ideas he could have asked his medical advisors in private not told the nation from the podium as President in a time of crisis at a press conference. Gah!

My country's political leader does daily press conferences to the nation, along side the lead doctor. Do you know what the political leader doesn't do? Give medical advice from the podium. Answer medical questions. She refers any such questions to the doctor to answer, and sticks to answering political policy questions herself.
"I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell
"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein

Agreed, and that was my point. He wasn't suggesting someone literally inject Lysol into their body. He was referencing some sort of method they were exploring. But he has to reference it publicly and look like an ass because he's Trump.

This is basic knowledge. Like bottom level stuff. The reason these chemicals work is that they kill living things. Including humans if they ingest it.
My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. James 2:1

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not  bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless James 1:26

No, they are not exploring those.

He wasn't saying ingest it or inject it. That's absurd. You want to believe that because you have TDS. If that's the rout you want to go, I'm not going argue about it, have at it.

Yes they were exploring "those." Apparently they were exploring some sort of treatment Trump was referencing, though it isn't clear what it was. He was asking Bill Bryan about the discussion they had prior.

Even if an injection of anything was a 100% cure, what ordinary man in the street will inject themselves? (Apart from diabetics and drug users). The medical assistance needed for injections would stop any possible nonsense.

No. The army lab was repeating studies done earlier on disinfecting. Bryan is not a scientist. Bleach kills viruses, sunlight kills viruses. the treatment being discussed was about disinfecting surfaces. I suspect that the briefing neglected that detail about disinfectants are dangerous when used internally, because he assumed it was not needed.

But in honor of our president, I am going to pour myself a gin and tonic. Gin contains alcohol, tonic contains quinine, which cures coronavirus.

And yet this individual died from uncritically followed an earlier set of Dr. Trump's medical advice. And they weren't even sick yet!

The stupid... it hurts. That's TWeb hall of fame level posting there Sean.

Trump: "I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning?"

This is why I don't take claims of TDS seriously. "If you believe your ears and eyes you have TDS!" The real Trump Defender Syndrome is the people who refuse to admit what they hear and see if it's negative for Trump.

Read the transcript, dummy. Trump was using past tense about something he had asked Bryan earlier about and something he would investigate, something Trump obviously should have kept out of the public.
