Natural Science 301 Guidelines

This is an open forum area for all members for discussions on all issues of science and origins. This area will and does get volatile at times, but we ask that it be kept to a dull roar, and moderators will intervene to keep the peace if necessary. This means obvious trolling and flaming that becomes a problem will be dealt with, and you might find yourself in the doghouse.

As usual, Tweb rules apply. If you haven't read them now would be a good time.

That would lead to a carbohydrate footprint instead of a carbon footprint.

Can we please have one thread that doesn't devolve into a discussion about politics?

As Juvenal has already pointed out, it doesn't seem like a very efficient way to extract energy from wind.

I think what's missing is a comparison to wind turbines. How efficient are they? It turns out that a typical wind turbine extracts more than 40% of the energy of the wind passing through it. This is significant considering that it is possible to calculate a maximum efficiency for any device that extract energy from the motion of wind. It is called the Betz limit and is around 59% (https://energyeducation.ca/encyclopedia/Betz_limit)

The wind turbines we have today are pretty good.
