Why Are Democrats Kissing The Ring Of Al Sharpton?

Many of the same Democrat hopefuls who boycotted AIPAC last month could be found pandering to the infamous race-baiter this week.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

It's the "woke" thing to do. Sharpton still holds aa majority approval rating with black voters, so woke away!!

Never forget his inciting racial hatred which led to a massacre of seven people at Freddie's Fashion Mart.

I'm sure that Sharpton and the Anti-semitic congresswoman Ilhan Omar would get along well together given his expressed hostility toward Jews.

I'm always still in trouble again

              According to Wikipedia:

Sharpton was licensed and ordained a Pentecostal minister by Bishop F. D. Washington at the age of nine or ten. After Bishop Washington's death in the late 1980s, Sharpton became a Baptist. He was re-baptized as a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in 1994 by the Reverend William Augustus Jones and became a Baptist minister.

I don't know if he has ever been associated with a particular church or just uses the title in order to get tax breaks.

I can become a minister/reverend by filling out a form online, but that doesn't make me one.

True. Different denominations have different requirements and there is no set standard. As you said you can legally become a minister by simply being able to sign your name and establishing a "church" is also ridiculously easy as political commentator and satirist John Oliver demonstrated

In my county in VA, you have to have an established congregation to be licensed. I was licensed by the International Pentecostal Holiness Church for several years and officiated 2 marriages in that time.

IIRC "Universal Life Church" won a case in federal court in which all that is necessary are three members -- a minister, a secretary and a treasurer -- to establish a church.

And that's just because you have to have officers to file a 501(c)(3) application.

ULC was pretty much established as a tax dodge and it was common for the same three people to set up three different churches where the officers would assume different roles in each church.
