DJ wins another Insensitive Jackass Award for mocking people with disabilities:

http://debunkingchristianity.blogspo...-can-book.html

In case he pulls it down, the post title is "At 55 Today I'm Wondering If I Can Book This Guy in Advance to Sing at My Funeral! LOL" and the YouTube video he links to is at

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1ZU3YpLM18

"Rob R" gave DJ a good lashing for this that deserves to be noted:

Careful John. You know what scripture says about those who mock the poor (and it would seem the same logic of that consideration applies to the poor of mind).

So just what human dignity and worth can we say that he has in a materialistic picture?
DJ's reply speaks for itself in terms of his high-handed dumbassery:

You're a killjoy Rob. It's my birffday and I can have fun if I want to. So there.

In that case, John, why don't you celebrate some more by pulling crutches away from people with polio, giving blind people the wrong bill back for change, and kicking Stepen Hawking's wheelchair down a steep incline?

How about you start a show titled America's Funniest Disabilities? You'd be the perfect host since you obviously have a very serious one.

This one wins DJ Platinum all by itself.

On the side, I'm very very glad now that I launched The Cowboy Who Wasn't There on the week of his birthday. It's too bad we all can't celebrate the occassion further by spitting in DJ's face for this offensive post.

Plus for two commentators:

Luke said...

Seriously? You're laughing at a person with a mental disability and putting it out in public in order to celebrate your birthday?

This shameful behavior speaks for itself. It tells the world what kind of person you really are.

Shame on you, John Loftus.

ismellarat said...

I'm with Rob_R on this.

The guy is doing the best he can in spite of whatever obstacles he's got, and his church is trying to be supportive.

Imagine what it might do to him if he gets humiliated for it.

We should support what's good in this world, regardless of where it comes from.

I'd bet that if those who are laughing at him on YouTube were surveyed, the percentage of churchgoers among them would be much lower than we'd find in the general population.

Assuming it's all of no value can be just as bad as obliviously believing it all makes perfect sense.
Good point here. DJ seems to think it is OK to mock people with disabilities in part because they are believers.

I like how he responds to his critics because he "may have made fun of a person with a mental disability". Not even the gall to double check.

"If fighting is sure to result in victory then you must fight!" Sun Tsu said that, and I'd say he knows a little more about fighting than you do pal because he invented it! And then he perfected it so that no living man can best him on the ring of honor! Then he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF EVERY SINGLE ONE! Ehehehehehehehehehe. And from that day forward anytime a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a 'zoo!' Unless it's a farm!

DJ is scum. Just scum.

Hey DJ! You want to do something about the Problem of Evil? Go look in the mirror! It's posts like that that you made that show me you don't really give a darn about the Problem of Evil. You only want to use it to justify your unbelief.

Meanwhile, those of us who have actually had real suffering in this life don't whine about it like you do. How about it DJ? Would you like to have your back cut open around your 16th birthday and have a foot of steel attached to your spine? Sound like fun?

I didn't think so.

Here's the news. I did it. It sure wasn't fun, but I don't complain about it. It's part of who I am today. I run like the wind and I'm thankful for that.

You think I'm going to fail? You're in the minority. I'm in Seminary now and I'm doing great because I actually apply myself and read up and listen and ask questions. JPH and several others here know I now work in the apologetics ministry. My church loves me and has me speak frequently. In fact, I'll be doing the sermon tomorrow night on my birthday on the gift of existence, something you don't take the time to appreciate with your mockery of the disabled.

And by the way, we are not really disabled. Many of us are quite able. We just have a little extra hurdle. It doesn't hold us down. In fact, it makes us work stronger. What I do will be all the more impressive because people like you and others who mock the ability of us were naysayers all along. God's use of me will be something to show to the world in proving that he uses the ones the world despises, the ones who others think can't do anything.

Tell me this DJ, when you write again on the Problem of Evil and about the disabilities that exist, are you going to mention that you make fun of people with those disabilites when they just try? There is a wonderful man working to overcome his hurdles and sing to his church and you mock him. If you really cared about the plight of the disabled, you'd do no such thing.

And don't think for a second that I'm the toughest one. You will stand before a judge one day and he will be tougher than I am. He is the answer to the problem of evil you've rejected and rest assured, your whining and narcissism will not affect him on that day.

What a....well, if I were to write it out, it most assuredly wouldn't be allowed here.

Maybe what needs to happen is that we should put Loftus in the position of those he finds it convenient to belittle, in order to make some rhetorical point, or "stick it" to people using juvenile humor.

He tries to justify himself by saying that it came from a "Christian scholar's" webpage. But I'm wondering, would this friend of John's condone his behavior by making it into a blog entry? That's despicable. John only does such things to get his point across and its absolutely undoubetly despicable. Next time what he should probably do is start making fun of disabled war veterans because he most likely doesn't agree with the precepts established in both the Iraq and Afghanistan war.

This type of reprehensible behavior is starting to put Loftus on an equal social status with Fred Phelps.

DJ the Pig is at it again with the self-justifications. Lordy, ain't it just like the "He Lies Again" thread????

Since I'm getting blasted in the comments below, supposedly because I may have made fun of a person with a mental disability, let me respond.

I found this video posted on Facebook by a well-respected Christian scholar, so if you blast me then blast him too.
Be glad to, DJ. What's his name? I already blasted the jackass who posted it on ebaumsworld.com (all there is is an online screen name) so might as well add it to the party. But really, that doesn't get you out of YOUR responsibility, does it, you unmitigated jackass?

Besides, I never said exactly what it was that I found to be funny about this guy who can't sing, so let me spell it out now.
SNIFF....hmm, I smell a contorted rationalization after the fact coming....

What I find hilarious is that the church allowed him to sing before the congregation in the first place. That's it! They knew how he would sing on camera before he sang and they let him sing anyway! That's the hoot! So no, I would not want him to sing at my funeral for the same reasons the church leadership should not have let him sing before the faithful. Why? Because it’s painful to hear him sing. He can’t sing! Do I need to be any clearer?
YEAH RIGHT. It was his American Idol-less talent that inspired your comments, DJ. RIGHT. SURE. And his hairstyle too, yes? Also that he shops at Target and has AFLAC insurance.

And people were hit with firehoses in Bull Connor's Alabama because they needed a bath, right?

Sorry, DJ. Not even 1% believable, and your past record here is part of the problem...a BIG part of it.

Also please note that the title was quite plain: The man was being made fun of because he was supposedly a crackhead. It was his slurred speech that the original compiler mocked. Since you didn't amend that in your own posting, explaining that you didn't agree with the quite blatant sentiment of the poster who made the title, your "explanation" just DIED. Plus the fact that you waited hours to post this explanation, and didn't use it when Rob_R first called you down. LIAR.

If a Christian wants to respond that God doesn't care how talented someone is when it comes to worshipful praise, and that sincere faith is all God asks, then let's do a review.
No, DJ. I don't care about that. It wouldn't matter if the guy was singing in front of the Liars Club (your fave meeting) or to the Royal Order of Moose. You're still an ignorant bigot.

This is not indicative of good church leadership. Not only is it not edifying to the congregation but it can also harm the guy who sang who will be ridiculed afterward.
In other words, it is HIS fault if people like you make fun of him?

What next, DJ? Gonna go around getting rapists off scot free because their victims were wearing perfume?

Think of it this way. If sincere faith is all that's important then why doesn’t the church hire this guy to be their preacher and listen to him every week? Why not make him the treasurer of the church? Why not make him the choir director? You see, sincerity is not enough when it comes to placing the right people with the right gifts in the right place. Church leadership must be more responsible than this in identifying and properly placing people with the right spiritual gifts.

And that’s it. I find this incident absolutely hilarious for those reasons. It has nothing to do with whether or not this guy has a mental handicap. If he does I can sympathize for him much more than that church did, for I would never have placed him in this situation in the first place. As a result people would not be making fun of him in public like they are now.

So, let's have some more fun with this for the reasons I just stated.
I left that intact because the oozing, slimy, disgusting and arrogant self-righteousness needs to speak for itself. You're a liar, DJ. That's a proven fact. Your excuses are contrivances made up after the fact for a tremendous blunder. That's the story of your life. Too bad you can't claim it as a disability.

So, let's have some more fun with John W. Loftus for the reasons I just stated.

Hum, that would make it one of those "recently noticed" types of lies, too.

I'm absolutely appauled and disgusted this is what John considers to be contributive to the purpose of his blog. This is the definite crossing line: Those who criticize us for not being on target with Loftus' arguments should know better after this. Someone who posts this for mere entertainment value just to get a show of pointing fingers doesn't deserve to be taken seriously at all. They deserve to be ostracized.

I really do wish he would try and attempt to make fun of war veterans. You know, those crazy old bums that live in cardboard boxes because they can't make a good living for themselves and never have been able too. They shouldn't be given a second chance because they are too unstable for anyone's good and quite frankly they should have reconsidered their options before making the decision to kill innocent people.

Give me a break.

The bit in bold just says it all. Apparently according to him handicapped people arn't good enough to perform for their church or to perform music. Instead he wants to run his nazi politics to disallow handicapped people their freedom of speech. He doesn't realise that just because they are handicapped then that doesn't mean they can't make decisions for themselves. What a complete jerk Loftus is.

The bit in bold just says it all. Apparently according to him handicapped people arn't good enough to perform for their church or to perform music.
Indeed, the "talent" thing is just a diversion in any case. I am indeed on record as saying that those with gifts for singing should be given priority for singing; but what we're dealing with here is of a different order. Someone like the evangelist David Ring, who has cerebral palsy, is acclaimed not because he has a good speaking voice (he uses self-depracating humor to make that point) but because he doesn't let that "little extra hurdle", as Nick puts it, hold him down. It's not a question of talent but a question of deserved honor for not being stopped by circumstances.

There are certainly people out there singing who should not be, because they frankly sound terrible. But that's not the point with someone like this gentleman DJ so gratuitously mocks.

Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.
