Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.

***Rest in peace, Curtmudgeon!***

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda? Do you know the reach of the thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'

'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Yahoo Answers lays down the law on people who believe Jesus was a historical person:
Anybody that cites Tacitus as evidence is a [dingleberry].

He said that Christianity was founded on somebody named Christus. He never met him. He was assuming the same thing people have been assuming for two millenia.

He also said that Christianity was a "dangerous superstition", and that the Christians were "a class hated for their abominations".

Source(s):
Common sense
I think it's probably true. There's no reason to believe the man ever existed. What is recorded of him was written hundreds of years later based on oral stories and who knows what else.
It's true. There is no historical evidence that he ever existed.
The New Testament borrowed and reinvented ridiculous amounts of information from the Old Testament. I would not be surprised if Jesus was always nothing more than another Jewish Mystic fictional manifestation of Moses.

Although it is not unreasonable to believe that Jesus did exist...but only as religious teacher - not a son of God.
Source(s):
Atheist
I didn't know being an atheist suddenly makes you a scholarly source.

People aren't moral and rational because some sort of religion or atheism has automatically put that moral or rational thinking in them; people are moral and rational because they are the image of a loving and wise God.
