Darwin was a "scientific genius"??? DARWIN??? A "scientific genius"???

Oh, I get it... you're using the New Age Dictionary For The Evo-Faithful.
When a man proposes a theory with a foundation solid enough to stand 200 years, a theory that revolutionized many aspects of the natural sciences and provided clarity in our understanding of life on the planet as well as our place in it, I think 'genius" isn't unreasonable.

You really need to catch up on your studies.
That's not really a refutation, Jorge. What sources would you recommend which can demonstrate a link between education in Darwinian evolution and the Rwandan or Armenian genocides? Or were you disagreeing with something else in my post?

With your all-too-familiar less-than-honest comments, you and your comrade (USIncognito)
fail to mention the FACT that we do NOT start off with the premise that "Darwin Was Wrong",
we are going to SHOW that Darwin was wrong with plenty of evidence -- scientific,
philosophical, theological evidence.

Here's a dollar $$$ -- the two of you can go out and buy yourself some integrity.
A dollar won't get you much but anything will be better than what you presently have.

Jorge
My guess is they will be down the hall from the MUFON conference. That standards of proof and quality of the evidence presented will be about the same.

Is the sky lavender in your world ? If they don't start with the premise that Darwin was wrong, why the heck is it called the "Darwin Was Wrong" Conference and not the "Was Darwin Wrong" Conference?

Keep the buck and buy that sense of irony I've been suggesting you purchase for a while now.

Coming at you from the not-so-sunny mountains of Manchester, Tennessee.

On my way here I saw the following advertisement:
VISIT RACCOON MOUNTAIN & CAVERNS, ESTABLISHED 500,000 BC
I kept wondering where the '500,000 BC' label was printed.
I also wondered if, besides that date, the label also showed
Made in Taiwan or China or Mexico or Korea or Japan.
Those kinds of questions stay with me for a long time.

Anyway, that's another subject.

This thread is about the Darwin Was Wrong Conference (DWWC)
to be held at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, California on Nov 13-14.

Ten presentations will be given at the DWWC by scientists such as
J. Sanford, J. Baumgardner, S. Austin,, J. Bergman and others.
Each presentation begins: "Darwin Was Wrong About .............."

I have twelve business-related stops before the Conference but, God
willing, I will be there. I helped Dr. Charles Ware put together his talk :
Darwin Was Wrong About Race.

In this "Year of Darwin", there can be no better goal than to expose to
the world the mountain of errors that Darwin believed, promoted and
helped to create. This will be a great conference to attain that goal.

Stay tuned ...

WEll, better late than never that the YECs figure this out as well. I suppose that you are aware that much of what Darwin believed was rejected by 'evilutionists' already in Darwin's own lifetime. Still, it is possible that you can come up with something new. It's just that the current record doesn't give us much hope for that. But ok, let us just give you the benefit of the doubt.

Bumping a thread containing allegations you have no intention of appropriately presenting or defending, Jorge?

What did ever happen with the discussion between Dr. Sanford and sfs1? I'd like to know why the correspondence stopped soon after sfs1 countered Dr. Sanford's explanation of MENDEL before I go listening to him talk about how Darwin was wrong . . .

I mean, if he's wrong about MENDEL being an accurate simulation of human population genetics now, why trust him about how wrong Darwin was because of what we know from genetics?

We could do a similar conference looking at the things those great YEC 'scientists' you listed got wrong.

Steve Austin was wrong about thinking nobody would discover he lied about his conversion to YECism.

Jerry Bergman was wrong to claim that the coccyx is bifibd and moves to one side during defecation.

J. Sanford was wrong about making the minimum population size in his anti-evolution program 1000, thus preventing YEC claims about population growth from being tested by his own program.

etc....

Sorry I missed you guys yesterday from sunny Twin Falls, Idaho.

Today I'm in cloudy (but clearing up) Hermiston, Oregon ...

As for the above post by Mr. VS, it's really quite simple : ALL of those gentlemen will be
at the Darwin Was Wrong Conference (now just one week away). Instead of blathering
like a spoiled brat, why doesn't Mr. VS hop on over and challenge these men directly?

The same goes to those of you that like to take shots at these guys from far away
(the typical MO of the Evo-Faithful). I mean, here's a fantastic opportunity for you guys.
You have a bunch of your ideological enemies all grouped together - think of how you
could embarrass the whole lot. Heck, you may even be able to end the Biblical
Creationist movement in one fell swoop! Go for it, guys ... or at least shut up!

BTW, I just learned that David Berlinski may also be there. That could be interesting ...

Likewise when you start going on about wanting to burn Eugenie Scott as a witch. She delivers many speeches and lectures throughout the country. I think she even attended the Darwin 2009 meeting in Chicago last week. So "instead of blathering like a spoiled brat," why don't you just hop on over and challenge her directly?

1) The Biblical Creationist movement as you envision it does not exist. However, there will always be 'Biblical Creationists' around as long as there are Christians, because all Christians are, by definition, Biblical Creationists of one sort or another.

2) There is no way to end the YEC movement in any single gathering, because the only way blind and stubborn ignorance ends is when the blind and stubbornly ignorant chose to leave that state - or they expire.

3) There are very few of us so hard up for entertainment we will fly cross country to observe the blind and stubbornly ignorant make fools of themselves (we can do that every night for free just by turning on CNN - )

Jim

ETA: One good thing about Jorge's attempt to co-opt "Biblical Creationists" as a pseudonym for YEC, it continues to ratchet up the YEC bid to be the "Only True ChristiansTM", which in the end will help drive more people away from their foolishness.

No. All one needs to do is come to grips with the fact Genesis 1 is not nor was ever supposed to be a technical text. Only those that can't deal with that reality will end up skeptics or apostates.
