I got these quotes from a friend of mine and I am wondering if they are valid evidence for the existence and/or divine nature of Christ. I dont know how to validate these types of things, so I am looking here for somebody to do that for me. Are these valid?

I'd appreciate some help. God Bless.

As far as verifying these things I'm in the same boat as you. Although the references, if true, would prove only that Jesus did exist beyond doubt.
Those that may prove the divinity of Christ would require a lot more research etc that I will leave up to those here who know the methods better than I do.

1st link broken
2nd link on the EXTRA-CANONICAL SOURCES CONFIRMING THE HISTORICITY OF JESUS. All of these were written by men who were born after the reported death of Jesus, so none of them were based on a personal knowledge. While this does not mean they are wrong, they hardly confirm anything other than the some people of the time believed the stories about a man called Jesus. I'm not saying Jesus never existed, just that these extra-canonical sources are NOT confirmation of his existence.
3rd link: It should be noted that the LETTER TO TIBERIUS CAESAR FROM PONTIUS PILATE is not a genuine letter of Pontius Pilate. Nor is there a copy of it in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. (do a google search on the piece.)

Despite Minnie's desperate flirtation with Christ-myth ideas popular among infudgels, there is far more evidence for Jesus' existed than Julius Caesar's. See also Shattering the Christ-Myth: The Reliability of the Secular Witness to Jesus (http://www.tektonics.org/tekton_01_01_01.html).

Sorry. missed that.
I still think that some sort of "Christians or theists's only" icon above each area would be helpful. (and, yes, I know this should be a PM, but if others read this maybe I can get some support for the idea.) :help:

I would love it if this were moved to an appropriate theist/nontheist area. That would be great. Thanx.
