When I go to grace's house, everything tastes better..... why is that? Even corndogs. It seems like everything tastes better either at someone else's house or cooked by someone else. What do you think?

I agree. Every time I go to my moms house, her food tastes better than mine. And the funny thing is this I use all her recipes. I have always wondered why?

No way I am the best cook!! I always cook thanksgiving and christmas dinner, BBq's, brunch, ect, ect. My mom made sure that her boy didn't have to live on mac and cheese and top romin.
And yes ladies I am taken. (BTW she never cooks, even though she is a great cook, she just like mine better)

Yeah, it's probably one of those psychological things. :teeth:
For one if someone else does the cooking then you can relax while eating instead of wondering if you did something wrong (got a bit of eggshell in the scrambled eggs; grabbed the bottle lemon extract instead of vanilla extract for the brownies ) or worrying that they are fibbing when others tell you dinner is good.

Yes, food always tastes better when made by somebody else.
I wonder why. It's not like I've burned noodles or anything... oh wait :dufus:

I still say that my cooking tastes better than others because I know what went into it and I also enjoy cooking very relaxing (as long as no one hovering over my sholder)

One of the reasons Iluvatar and I fell in  is because we share a passion for cooking. That's also one of the reasons I gained 50 pounds between our engagement and our wedding!!!! :eww:
We love having dinner guests. We often trot out new ethnic and/or gourmet recipies in the weekends and if they turn out really well, we say, "This is a company meal." We also do all the trappings when we have guests...linen napkins, candles, salad forks...sometimes even the family china!
Since I'm on the Atkins diet, I've learned some awesome high-protein, high-fat recipes (lots of cream sauces), so Iluvatar has to be careful when he adds his own carb to the meal. He also works for a baking company where there is an endless supply of cake, cookies, and bread available and no other food! He was getting slightly paunchy there in the beginning of my diet, but has somehow managed to strike a balance and is looking way trim now.
As for eating at others' homes, I have often found that the food is okay at best. Now, if you're talking about restaurants...well, I'd rather have a chef do my cooking any day!

I am a TERRIBLE cook. My meals consist of cereal, mack n cheese, and anything that can be microwaved in less than a minute. I guess that is rather typical of a college student though. I still havn't figured out how to make rice a roni  I don't understand why they have to make these things so difficult. So I LOVE when other people cook for me. Real food is suprisinigly good!

I guess I like my own cooking, but there are things that other people make better than I do, so it depends.
I like my own chili best. I think I do a pretty mean fried chicken.
So, I answered the survey about only the things I cook.

Chika4Jesus: I still havn't figured out how to make rice a roni  I don't understand why they have to make these things so difficult.
Well, you need a covered frying pan, a few pats of butter, some water and a measuring cup. Melt the butter in the pan, toss in the rice-a-roni and stir it around until it gets golden brown, then pour in the water and the magic flavor packet, stir, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes. Piece of cake!
Then again, if you're living in a dorm or something, that could present some challenges.

Step 1: Buy box of rice-a-roni
Step 2: Go to mom's house and ask her how to make it.
Step 3: Watch.

Step 2: Go to mom's house and ask her how to make it.
Step 3: Watch televion until she calls you to the dinner table.

I can cook fairly well ... but I have to go with the tastes better when someone else cooks camp. (Most of the time anyway ... :eww:)
I say we all pile up and head to Jardin's house ... she's made me hungry now

Careful when you pile up...there are rules for this kind of thing, you know. When you leave my house, you'll all be lots bigger than you were when you first piled up...leave room in the minivan!

Thanks for the Rice a Roni advice...I still think I will stick to the mack n cheese for hot meals. Hey leave room for me in the minivan. How can you deny food to a starving college student? I'm really not picky! Dosn't James 1:27 say something about true religion as caring for orphans widows and starving college students??? :teeth:

When I was a child it was an issue if Mom was eating anything - whatever she had, a sandwhich or whatever, would always taste better taking a bite of her sandwhich than if she made me one.
I still think Mom's cooking is the best, although I like to cook and am not too bad. I like going to other peoples house and stuff, but I can't say that just other peoples stuff taste better - I think part of it for me is that they cook things I would never consider or think of, so I get to try different things. It's like a lady at church made a salad a few weeks ago - she put mandarin oranges and pecans in it - I would have never thought of anything like that, but it was really good.

I dunno about other people's food tasting better.....I don't cook myself (as in I don't cook....not related to cannibalism in any way), but I know that when I go to church and out chef there cooks something it is always way better than anything else....
