I have noticed that Luke in his genealogy describes Adam as the "son of God". We all know that Jesus too was called "son of God", but for orthodox Christians this really means that he is God the Son. But I´m troubled by the fact that Luke also calls Adam, who was obviously a man, not the Creator God, "son of God". So how do we know for sure how to interpret the "son of God" title?

KOFHY:
The only way out of all these "sons of God" is to understand what this which follows below means.

KOFHY:
Well, from the idea that God has created a thinking animal, (Adam), who did/can and does think by means of a "model" in his mind. A model God in Adam has built, mentally. This is a schmata. Its the image of the Universe outside in man's mind which is, in simile, likeva reflection, of God, who is imaged by man.

Then God, (the Ultimate Universal Power) said, "Let us make man, (mentally), in (analogy to the Natural Workings of) our image, (as reflected in his comprehension), in our like-ness (in regard to his perception of the reality external to his mind), and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." (Gen1:26)

How about these guys?
It only makes sense if these are evolutionary links in the final appearance of Jesus, in the image of his Father.

EXAMPLES:
1) Gen. 5:3 And Adam, (Ramapithecus Man). lived an hundred and thirty (thousand) years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth, (Australopithecus anamensis):

2) Gen. 5:22 And Enoch, (Homo habilis), walked with God...
Gen. 5:24 And Enoch, (Homo habilis), walked with God (consciously thinking, realistically): and he was not, (but, totally absorbed into the genome); for God took him, (transforming him through hybriding).

3) Gen. 6:2 That the sons of God, (Methuselahian Modern Homo erectus), saw the daughters of men, (Methusaelian Homo antecessors), that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

KOFHY:
Yes, he is the perfected image of God, and he is the first Transfigured:

Matt. 17:2 And was transfigured, (becoming totally conscious, even in his Unconscious Mind), right before them: and his face did shine as the sun, (as had the face of Moses), and his raiment was white as the light.

This makes sense of the son of man = son of God statements in that the line of genetic evolution to the perfection of Christ involved lower stages of development:

Matt. 16:27 For the Son of man, (as a conscious Homoiousian), shall
come in the glory of his Father, (the Almighty creator, the Universe), with his angels (of the psyche); and then he shall reward (in Total Consciousness) every man according to his works (and intentions in mind).

This explains the verse, "Ye all have the power to become the sons of God."
True?
