View Full Version : Does anyone know something about a group that calls themselves 'the assembly'?

This group says they have no name but refers to themselves as 'the assembly', not to be confused with the Assemblies of God group.

1. They are extremely exclusive, believing themselves to be the only Church, and that all other creeds or denominations or non-denominations are in sin.

2. The women don't wear makeup, most of their garments are made of very thick, heavy materials like denim.

3. They do not celebrate Christmas nor Easter in any way.

4. They often don't own televisions or they store them in the closet (which may be a good thing...)

I am looking for someone who may know specifically about some of their doctrines. I would like to do an article on this group, or any other groups that have these same characteristics, mainly exclusitivity.

Thank you,

- Steven

The following article was one dealing with their 'pope' so to speak...

From what you posted, they sound like a very militant wing of the United Pentacostals. That's just speculation though.

Actually the assembly is ultra conservative; they would reject speaking in tongues or any of the other staples of pentecostalism.

I am just curious to see if anyone on theology web has had any dealings with them other than me. It would add some insight to my article.

thefivesolas,

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I don't think it's the group I'm looking for. They are the group with no name, but in their sectarian circles they refer to themselves as 'the assembly'. (not torch assembly)

Thanks again,

- Steven
