Hi Forum,
I am confused on the "jot and tittles".
Jesus said in matt 5 that not one jot or tittle would pass from the law untill all is fulfilled. Hebrew 8/jeremiah 31 said the NC would not be like the OC. I assume this is worshipping God in spirit and the works of the spirit, instead of "works" of the law.
Just for the sake of arguement, if the old "heaven and earth" passed away in the first century destruction of Jerusalem, what jots and tittles would have passed from the law, and what did God mean by "Not like the OC for the original 12 tribes of hebrew Israel, which would be botht the house of Judah/jews and house of Israel? Another words, there are messianics that worship God with the "OC" way, whereas christians worship the "spirit" way only. Thanks and God bless.

matt 5:17 " Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 "Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches [them,] he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Hebrew 8:7 For if that first [covenant] had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 Because finding fault with them, He says: "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah -- 9 "not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the LORD.

jeremi 31:31 " Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah -- 32 "not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [that] I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD.

Luke 21:20 " But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 "Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 "For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!

How can you say that heaven and earth passed away in the destruction of Jerusalem in the first century AD?

In fact, the event didn't affect the Jewish nation half as much as Christian commentators claim. the whole Diaspora remained intact. A wall from the Herodian Temple was left and there were enough Jews in Palestine to start another major anti-Roman uprising before the middle of the second century.

Haven't you read Mat 5,23? Jesus was for Temple offerings. His brother James prayed for atonement in the Holy of Holies during Yom Kippur. The disciples praised God in the Temple after Easter. Jesus never declared Judaism obsolete. It was Jewish turn-coat Paul of Tarsus who broke away from Judaism and made Christianity into an independent religion based on Jesus' so-called expiatory sacrifice (as if Judaism didn't provide for the remission of sins already!).

The Gospels as we have them are a mixture of Hellenized otherworldly Christianity and Jewish revolutionary Christianity. Hence all the confusion, errors, interpolations, contradictions and other maddening problems of interpretation.

Why you are wasting your time and others' with absurd technical questions that can never be solved, your life is slipping away and you haven't figured out anything at all. All you have is words, words, words!

Wake up!

Better crack open your dust covered bible again. All prophecies are against the house of Judah/Levi and Jerusalem in the OT. People fail to see what God meant by the old "heaven and earth". People appear to read books and strive for solving the mysteries of the bible from other sources other than the bible.
Would you like to prove Jesus lied in Luke 21 or prove He was telling the truty? BTW, revelation is the destruction of heaven and earth, the OC and fulfills all of Daniel and the olivet discourse and Paul's predictions. Partial preterists love to believe that a lot of prophecies are fulfilled, but they deny the True Words of our Lord Jesus in Luke 21. Is our salvation affected by whether we believe the bible is fulfilled or not? I think not, but I am happier in the Lord knowing God fulfilled everything He promised to His elect in the first century, and also to us today, with God dwelling in His people through the Holy Spirit. God bless.

For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 "And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Hebrew 12:25 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more [shall we not escape] if we turn away from Him who [speaks] from heaven, 26 whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, "Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven." 27 Now this, "Yet once more," indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29 For our God a consuming fire.

1 corin 7:29 But this I say, brethren, the time [is] short, so that from now on even those who have wives should be as though they had none, 30 those who weep as though they did not weep, those who rejoice as though they did not rejoice, those who buy as though they did not possess, 31 and those who use this world as not misusing For the form of this world is passing away.

[i]reve 17:16 "And the ten horns/KINGS which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. [i]17 "For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.

revela 18:5 "For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 "Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her.23 "The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore.

Jeremiah 16:9 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Behold, I will cause to cease from this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride. 17 "For My eyes [are] on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity hidden from My eyes. 18 "And first I will repay double for their iniquity and their sin, because they have defiled My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable and abominable idols."
