Hi forum,
What does the author of Acts mean when he says that jews from every nation "under heaven" were in Jerusalem? What makes those nations under that heaven different from all the nations under the "present heaven" of this AGE? Hebrews tells us of a shaking of heaven and earth to make way for a new "heaven and earth" (as does revelation). Does OC have something to do with it?
Matt 24 says the gospel will be preached in "all the world"(#3635) then the END would come. Is there a difference between all under "heaven" in acts 2/coll 1 and all in the "world" in Matt 24? I and others believe revelation is the destruction of that "old heaven and earth" in the first century destruction of Jerusalem, and these passages appear to confirm that(as revelation concerns a country and Great City, not this present "world"). Thanks. God bless. Revelation 11:1 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, "Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. 2 "But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot [for] forty-two months.
Does this passage in Acts mean jews from China, Russia, Japan, India etc? What countries weren't under that "heaven" in that period? Interesting verse.

acts 2: 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 8 "And how we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? [i]9 "Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 "Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 "Cretans and Arabs -- we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God."

coll 1:23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. 24 I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church,

The word "world" is used differently in the greek than the word that represents the "whole globe"(#08398).

matt 24:12 "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 "But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the "world"(#3525) as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. 15 " Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
