Luke 21:21 "Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 "For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. Jeremiah includes a lot of prophecies against Jerusalem and its "rulers/priests"(as does most of the OT and NT prophecies) and though some may be against babylon, most appear to be the destruction of Jerusalem after Christ is crucified.
The temple and Jerusalem appear to represent the old "heaven and earth", the way to heaven was through the sacrifices in the temple and earth being those of whom the sacrafices were performed, those of Israel.
Notice in Jeremiah 1 that ALL the families of the North will come and set up "Thrones" at the entrance to the gates of Jerusalem for judgement and ironically, revelation shows "10 Kings" being used by God to utterly burn and destroy the HARLOT, of which the house of Judah was called in the OT. Has anyone else studied revelation as being the fulfillment of the bible and the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in the first century as revelation appears to be about a Great City with a temple and worshippers being judged(jews), not the whole world? God bless. Jeremiah 3:8 "Then I saw that for all the causes for which backsliding Israel [10 northern scattered tribes] had committed adultery, I had put Her away and given Her a certificate of divorce; yet her Treacherous Sister Judah[2 southern tribes] did not fear, but went and played the Harlot also.
Jeremi 1:14 Then the LORD said to me: "Out of the north calamity shall break forth On all the inhabitants of the land. 15 For behold, I am calling ALL the families of the kingdoms of the north (notice the "10 kings" in revelation), says the LORD; "They shall come and each one set his throne At the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, Against all its walls all around, And against all the cities of Judah. 16 I will utter My judgments Against them concerning all their wickedness, Because they have forsaken Me, Burned incense to other gods, And worshiped the works of their own hands.
Here, God appears to be using the "10 kings" like He used the King of Babylon as His servant against Jerusalem the first time. Jeremiah 2 shows Dan and Ephraim as the northern kingdoms and they are the ones missing in revelation. Pretty interesting.
reve 17:16 "And the ten horns/KINGS which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 "For GOD has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind/judgement, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.
Jeremiah 2:13 "Behold, he shall come up like clouds,And his chariots like a whirlwind. His horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us, for we are plundered!" 14 O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, That you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you? 15 For a voice declares from Dan And proclaims affliction from Mount Ephraim: 16 "Make mention to the nations, Yes, proclaim against Jerusalem, [That] watchers come from a far country And raise their voice against the cities of Judah
reve 1;7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
